I haven't found much information on the Intel 655 integrated graphics on the new 13" MBP - do we know how well it can handle dual external 4K monitors in clamshell mode? Would I be stuck using default resolution of 1920x1080 or could it handle scaling to 2550x1440? I currently use a 2017 15" with dedicated graphics, plugged into a CalDigit TS3 Plus dock using two 27" 4K displays and that works like a charm, but there may be a new 13" in my household, and I'm curious if it can be used in that way too.

Based on the official specs page nothing has changed from the 2017 version and it supports up to two 4k screens:

Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at millions of colours and:
  • One display with 5120-by-2880 resolution at 60Hz at over a billion colours
  • Up to two displays with 4096-by-2304 resolution at 60Hz at millions of colours
  • Up to two displays with 3840-by-2160 resolution at 60Hz at over a billion colours
As to how well it does it, I'm curious too so I'll watch this thread.

I'm using a 2015 topped up 13'' MBP with two 24'' Dell 4K in native resolution (3840 x 2160) in clamsehll mode for coding. Everything seems work fine. Only lag experienced was when I was re-arranging displays in preferences.

I assume 2018 13'' MBP would perform better than mine.

Does it work as well when not in clamshell mode?

How are you running 2 4K displays on a 2015 MBP? Even though it has 2 DisplayPorts, I thought it could only drive 1 4K display at 60Hz (a 2nd one would have to be at 30Hz over HDMI). I've tried getting 2 4K displays working on my 2015 15" MBP, both using DisplayPort without success.

Curious?

I’d imagine they are running at 30hz it makes no difference for coding.
