Hello all!

I've attached a picture showing a couple of bright points of light that shine through beneath my spacebar. I don't recall my previous machines looking like this and don't have anything to compare it too.

Just looking for some quick input from other owners if their keyboard looks like this at all and then I can remove!

Thanks!

Mine is the same, all display models are the same, just how it is unfortunately. (I don't know why there are any LEDs under the space bar in the first place.)

Thanks for the quick input. I don't like it, but I can live with it if they are all that way 🙂

My 2017 doesn't have it at any normal viewing angle. With keyboard brightness on 100% I can see it kind of if I tilt it really weird angles.

Thanks for starting this post. I just got my 2018 MacBook Pro (upgrading from my old retina 2015 model) and I immediately noticed the same thing. My space bar has two noticeable spots of light leaking. Personally, I prefer the backlight from the older models but if all the new ones have this (as it appears from this string), at least we know it’s not a defect.

Right, If I remember correctly, each key on the 3rd gen butterfly keyboard has its own led. So, being that the spacebar has no white area for the light to shine through, I'm wondering why there is an led behind that key to begin with.

My 2017 refurbished MBP does not seem to have this backlight bleed issue.

Got the same on my 2018 13" MacBook Pro but only when angled a certain way. Doesn't bother me, it works and that's all I care about!

If i crank the brightness up on the keyboard I can see it at a certain angle and see light around all of the keys really. I don't keep my keys very bright so at the 25% or so brightness I don't see any bleed.

I was just prepping my 2015 to sell and noticed it leaks a great deal more than my 2018 so there that.

Hmm I haven't checked mine. I had the screen replaced on Monday due to staingate but can't make up my mind if I want to sell it or not.
