So I was using Plugable's USB-C to HDMI cable with my 2016 13" MBP without issue. I got my 2018 15" MBP yesterday and I cannot get it to recognize my display. Has anyone else seen this issue? Running latest Mojave 10.14 Beta (18A336e) on both machines.

EDIT: I've tried to reset the SMC and NVRam.

Some -- not "all", but "some" -- USBc-to-HDMI adapters work with the 2016 models, but DO NOT WORK with the 2017/18 models.

You -might- have one of these.
I'd check with Plugable (do they still have a tech support forum?).

I'm not saying that's definitely the problem.
But it could be ...

Could be Mojave as well, I remember them saying something about the new MacBook Pro and external displays in the release notes.

I sent an email off to their support this morning. We shall see what they say.

It could be, but I'm running the same version on my 13" without issues.

Release notes say external display may not light up, is that what you are experiencing?

Same issue. It's a problem with Beta 4. I've reported it to Apple. Adapters are known good. I reinstalled High Sierra and everything worked, reinstalled Mojave and it stopped. External display also works as expected with same hardware in bootcamp, so it's definitely an OS problem.

I’m glad it’s not just me :)
I’ve been going crazy. When you say “adapters are known good” what do you mean? Thanks for the help.

I've tested the adapters on other devices, and on this device with other operating systems, so I know they are fully functional, both in their own right, and with this hardware. They are not the issue.

I could not get my 5K working in Mojave on the 18MBP, but it worked fine in Mojave on my 16MBP. Downgraded to High Sierra, and it works again. Definitely bug in Mojave related to the 18 only.

Let’s hope it’s fixed in the next beta!

So progress. I installed the latest beta and I didn't think it was fixed. Turns out if I connect my display directly, it works. If I have it connected to my CalDigit T3Plus, it is not recognized. All other devices are however.

Hopefully this will be resolved soon for my dock too.

Just installed Mojito PB4 and the LG5K is now working on the MBP 2018.
