Hi there,

I got a refurbished MacBook Pro 2017 15" 2 months ago.

It is a fresh install and I realised the battery drain much faster than usual. I normally only have 4 to 5 hours of usage with web surfing (Safari), a bit Spotify music and a bit light video editing on FCPX (not generating videos, just edit)

I search around the internet for review and most review said it has great battery, ~ 10 hours of battery life.

I am thinking if the 2018 has better battery life?

In particular, iMore mentioned🙁for 2018 model)

"To power the extra cores and hungrier memory, Apple has added more battery. By virtue of some hocus-pocus, the overall weight didn't change, but the extra power is canceled out by the extra demand, so you end up with the same battery life as previous years. I get about a workday of web surfing and several hours of video editing and rendering."

Besides, I realised that if I turn the display to 100% brightness, my under [Using Significant Energy] menu if you click the battery bar, I can see an item called "Display Brightness", however, when I tried in apple store with the 2018 model, (I unplug the power) and turn the brightness to highest as well, under [Using Significant Energy] the item "Display Brightness" does not appear... Does it mean 2018 monitor is more efficient, I doubt...

I am kind of worried that I got a defected 2017 model, is the 2018 model so much better in terms of battery life or I am just unlucky?
Thanks!
