It's really not that difficult. The antenna and the rubber bumpers on the memory were the only areas which were at all stressful.
Annnd done. And it appears I didn’t break anything :p (like I did last time I tried to upgrade a Mac probably 10 years ago).

Kit (Mini + ram upgrade) arrived a couple weeks ago. Would have cost me $130-$150 to have an authorized technician do the install. Had time today so I got my nerves together and tackled it.

Most stressful part for me was one of the dang T10 screws on the main board did not want to budge. IFixit’s screwdriver is pretty small and light... could have used something with a bit more leverage for that one. Other than that, getting that antenna connector back on took a minute— just a small space and small connection to line up and get connected.

Took me about 30-35 minutes in all, and I’m now rocking my first Mac desktop in many years (especially one that isn’t a flaky hackintosh— gave up on those in 2011-ish, and prior to that I had a 2006 Mac Mini).

I appreciate the help here in the forum!

Ram prices are dropping, so I just ordered 64GB, lol! Samsung 32GB (M47A4G43MB1)/$137.75
I *almost* wish I’d just done 64gb, haha. Drastically more affordable now than shortly after the Mini was updated in 2018. I figure I probably won’t need it for a while (if ever) so I restrained myself ;)

I also went with 64GB (two of the Samsung 32GB mentioned above from Amazon).

Installation was easy enough. Took me maybe 30 minutes total.
Out of curiosity— what does everyone do with the ram they replace? I’ve got these 2 4gb chips just sitting here.

Also, there was a brief moment that I lamented that the ram I was upgrading to wasn’t black like the ram I was replacing

I installed 2x OWC 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 in my 2018 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7 grey Mac Mini, no probs and it is pretty darn fast too!

Crucial still lists 3200MHz modules as compaitble, is there any other knowledge out there on whether or not it's compatible with the 2018 ("2020") Mac Mini? I'm kind of surprised I can't find anything out there written about it, which leads me to believe the standard 2666MHz is the way to go.

Yeah just pick the 2666 MHZ. Safer.
