2018 Pro UK Launch Day Stock

Hello there,

I failed to place my order in time for launch day delivery with Apple, so I'm looking for a decent alternative.

I've seen someone mention on a thread here that there will be walk-up stock at the Apple retail stores, but that might not be an option for me logistically.

I've checked Very, John Lewis, Argos and Currys... and managed to place an order with Currys that /should/ arrive on the 8th but it's not a guarantee.

JL go on sale at 8am on 7th, not sure when they will deliver... no word on Argos yet and Very don't have stock of the one I'm after (12.9/256Gb/Grey)

Does anyone have any other options / suggestions or have I pretty much covered all bases?
 
Couple of thoughts...

Apple will likely have launch day stock. Upon checking the store while Lana Del Rey was still singing it appears we never had the store pickup option. Whether it goes live on the 7th or the day later (as per iPhone launches) remains to be seen.

John Lewis orders should be available for delivery or store collection on the 8th.

Had success with Argos day one in the past when I didn’t preorder

Didn’t preorder either. Wasn’t going to upgrade initially but opting for 64GB Silver 12.9” WiFi.

Think we’ve got a bunch of options and don’t foresee any issues getting hold of one in the next few days

The Pro is twice the price of a regular iPad and many iPhone users don’t even need an iPad.

I don’t foresee stock shortages, especially for the £1,119 256GB 12.9 inc model?

My local Apple Store Business Manager said they don’t know what stock they will get on Wednesday. They will certainly have display versions though, so will nip in on way home from work and have a play. Pretty sure i’m gonna get the 11” 256gb Wi-fi version. Will trade-in my 12.9 32Gb gen1....or at least get credit to buy pencil and / or keyboard.
 
So I didn't preorder as I was never going to need a new iPad. But as per usual I have now justified that I do need a new iPad ( already sold my iPad Pro 12.9 2nd generation and so now without an iPad ).

Looking to order via John Lewis at 8am on 7th, hoping that firstly they have stock and second you can collect from your nearest JL or Waitrose from 2pm the following day.

Fingers crossed for those that didn't pre-order!

Argos have always had stock day one for me in the past but it isn’t always advertised on launch day so worth popping in and asking.
 
Do people reckon Argos will the Keyboard Folios tomorrow? Or even midnight online?

Uncertain. Interestingly, the holding pages for the iPads are now online but see no trace of the pencil or folio covers. Might indicate they may not be stocking accessories day one or I could just be overthinking it
 
I’m not expecting a sell out, that’s if stores do have stock. Pretty much decided on the 512GB 12.9 Silver, justifying the cost by telling myself I’ll have it for a very long time.
 
I’d have preordered but I’m on holiday this week so will hopefully be popping in to Brighton’s Apple store and picking one up tomorrow morning...
 
In Store reservations were live at 6am, not sure if they were available earlier than that. My store (Leeds) appears to have every capacity available for reservation/in store pickup. At these RRP’s I doubt they’ll sell out immediately.

Was just able to reserve for pickup at the local Brighton Apple Store using the Apple Store app.

iPad Pro, keyboard, and folio all in stock for collection today apparently.

Also picking up from Leeds. Easy peasy. Yup, stock looks to be readily available

Keep trying. Had the same issue. Make sure you haven’t added anything to your basket in another (non UNiDAYS) window and close any other tabs you may have open. Also try to navigate via the top menu when you see the error message
 
I’ve managed to reserve at my local Apple store as well - what time is pickup normally available, is it just after opening?

Thanks for the advice pal - I kept trying like you mentioned and eventually after several failed attempts I managed to put the order through.
I've got a 12.9" being delivered today but been in two minds - so reserved an 11" at the Leeds store - will try both at home first before settling on. Not so sure picking them up and testing them in the Apple store is enough for me to make a decision. Need it for a few days.

‘Ready for pickup’ email arrived at 7:48. Unfortunately I have to wait until after work though.
