I noticed the lack of those "yellow/pink tint" threads. Does it mean the screens are finally uniform on 2018 models?

Eh, give it a bit longer. I do have some pretty bad light bleed on the bottom of the screen though.

Despite what most reviewers say, the 2018 model actually has a different display panel. Contrast ratio is up from 1000 to 1500.

Once the newness wears off people will start nitpicking the little details, and you will start seeing more threads about this. Also True Tone may hide some of this so it may not be picked up on as much for users who have this enabled.

think alot of people have realised its possible to calibrate your screens also. Manually in preferences or with a cheap color calibrator. And also the screens get better and better too so

The lack of complaints since launch make me think the 2018 screens are more uniform. I am one of those who see the screen irregularities. I returned two 2016 devices because of color tints on the screen. I kept the third which had a slight pink to blue shift that I could live with. My 2018 MacBook Pro that I've had since launch has what I consider a perfect screen with or without True Tone on. It is bright, white with no color tints or unevenness anywhere that I can see.

Had two now and problems with both. First one had bad dirty screen effect and light coming from the bezels. Second one had pink on left, blue on right (and some dirty screen effect). Perhaps my bad luck but suspect not... :(

I have just begun setting up my second 2018 MBP 15". The first one I returned with uniformity problem, pink on the left, blue/neutral on the right. Believe it or not, this one looks exactly the same. This thing is $4500 worth of computer.

I also just got a second machine, just bought another to compare with the plan to return the worse one.

The second machine is less uniform than my first, but neither are as good as my Dell Alienware or Asus 27" monitor.

I can't understand why Apple can't put better screens on these machines. What's wrong with them?

I really enjoy MacOS and even like the new butterfly keyboards. I can type very fast on them.

But these screens are subpar in my opinion, especially given the premium pricing on these machines.

Unfortunately I guess it is still a lottery and I was just lucky to get a good screen first try on my 15" 2018 MBP. I would return and try again as there are good screens out there. $4500 is way too much for something you are not satisfied with. Good luck.

They are still not uniform. Received my 2018 560x model a few weeks ago and it has a pink hue on the left and green hue on the right. Setup a genius appointment and had then screen replaced a week later. The screen came back exactly the same. Purchased a Vega 20 model as well and that model also has the same problem. So out of the 3 screens I received, they're all unacceptable, especially when viewing on lighter content like his site. Just for kicks, I checked the display model at the apple store and notice they also exhibit the same issue. Kinda sucks that my 2014 model had such a great screen compared to this crap.

You can't calibrate a screen with uniformity issues. There's color discrepancies that varies throughout the screen, so calibrating will only correct for that spot that the sensor is on.

Mine is not that bad is pink on the left and more normal on the right. It's not horrible but noticeable.

Hate doing this exchange game every time I want to buy a computer!
