Hey guys so I have had the 2019 15 inch MBP for a couple weeks now and I just noticed that the Touch ID has some play to it. Is it supposed to be like this or is it a defect and I should probably get it checked? If I tap it lightly I can hear a clicking sound as if the key is kind of just floating in its socket. It doesn't have much play to it but it also definitely isn't 100% solid.

Nothing you can do about it. Some of them have it, some of them don't. I couldn't stand it with my 2018 so I returned it for a new one (I was within the return window) and the new one is tight with no play. Apple won't do anything for you on it though.

Damn, it doesn't have much play so it doesn't bother me like crazy ( I just assumed it was supposed to be 100% solid so was just wondering) but hopefully it doesn't affect functionality, that's my main concern, I don't want the touch sensor to stop working or something.

Let it stop working. It will be under warranty for at least a year, and you can have a replacement that probably does not rattle, plus a new keyboard and battery and an entire top case. Pray, dear friend, pray that it fails within warranty. ;)

Jeez, I hope it doesn't though, its more of a very slight play to it, only movement I can see is by seeing the change in glare, otherwise I can't physically notice it. Honestly hope it just holds up I was hoping most people have this issue as well to certain extent and have been fine, and that I'm not the only one

I have a 2017 model. Mine has no play in it other than the normal button function, but it doesn't feel loose at all.

Yea dang it seems like nobody else really has this issue, was hoping this 2019 mbp would've just been perfect but seems otherwise :''(
