All,

I have not seen a disk speed test for the new 8Tb SSD in the 16" MacBook Pro, so I just ran the BlackMagic read and write speed tests. I have attached the results.

Write speed: 2906 Mb/s
Read speed: 2806 Mb/s

See the attached file for the complete results.

Can you run Aja as well? Did you go 64G RAM?

I upgraded to 64Gb. I will download Aja tomorrow and test it.

Thanks Professor. Were there any minor issues as you are testing yours? I am about to order the MBP16 too, possibly with the 64 and 8TB SSD as well.

No issues whatsoever with respect to the SSD. I had an issue running in clamshell mode, but I (mostly) resolved it.

The fans go to maximum speed and stay there, but the sound does not bother me at all.

Great. How was the fan noise when compiling or doing intensive CPU work?

My MBP16 64RAM 8VRAM 8TB arrived 4 days ago and so far so good. It is a lot quieter with my tasks versus the 2018 MBP15 with 32RAM 4VRAM and 4TB.
I can now run 3 financial trading platform during trading hours feeding EXCEL with live feeds and watching CNBC at the same time without getting maximum fan noise. Just a 50db or so fan which the Music app can drown playing through the delicious MBP16 speakers. Yes, the speakers are wonderful as most noted but I feel the bass is not as great as the Apple Home Pod. Physically they cannot as the Home Pod transducers are larger and radiating surfaces cannot compare. I digress.

My 8TB speed test is similar to yours. Geekbench 5 were 1201 and 7338

I had a couple of instances where quitting VLC presented a red screen which quickly went away. But since upgrading to 10.15.2, that has not repeated.

No popping speaker sounds when using Audio apps, Youtube or Quicktime.
Has not worked with Final Cut Pro.
