Did you miss the battle between LeClerc and Vettel?
I didn't think he'd, LeClerc, be allowed to race him yet he pushed him to the limit for 1st.

Loved it! Amazing to finally see two Ferrari's without team orders. LeClerc botched the start but really he dominated all weekend. When he finally caught Vettel, he was back on form and you kind of got that feeling it was just a matter of time.

Let’s say a few races in LeClerc is ahead of Vettel in the championship but Lewis is out in front.
Do you think Vettel would follow orders if told to pull over for his teammate?
I doubt it!
I think this could be Vettel’s last year at Ferrari. Too many mistakes that in reality have cost the team dear in recent years.

I mean it's only two races in but wow, that would be an interesting scenario. I did get the feeling from watching live that the team seemed happier as LeClerc succeeded, especially after pole, than they seemed recently for Sebastian. Just speculation though! :D

The thought process in the office if this was to play out, was 2020 Vettel out, Schumacher in! What do you think?

Vettel is not going to improve with pressure. He’s getting that from inside and outside his team now. Just hope Ferrari don’t suddenly pull support for LeClerc.

Mick will be in the Ferrari in 2021 as #2. Seb should retire after next year. He can’t control his anger/frustration. The mistakes are too often now.

Charles will end up at Mercedes at some point IMO. I could see Mercedes replacing Lewis with Charles in 2023.

I’m sure Vettel won’t get to be number one all year. That means he’ll be off next year.
I think he’s not able to take the pressure anymore.

Just to add fuel to the fire.. I found it interesting that Louis Camilleri was watching very intently this weekend and it was him who preferred to have Charles over Kimi at Ferrari for this year. Maybe after Australia's team orders, Louis stepped into Mattia and said let them race so we can see who's stronger.

Yup. The writing is on the Pit Board now. :apple:

Wouldn't it be interesting if Leclerc loses the world championship due the points he could've gained in Australia had they let him pass Vettel?

It was a massive improvement over Melborne, but other than a few laps it still didn't feel like there was much of the race playing out on track. Whilst there was lots of overtaking, sailing past a car because of DRS doesn't quite give the same satisfaction as some good wheel to wheel action and the best driver winning out. Heading in the right direction though.

I forgot to talk about the last race. I thought that it was a proper race with a real battle until the end when the Ferrari packed up.

Should be a good race on Sunday though, Mercedes have been caught out thought, they bought a new wing to use but it’s illegal as the end plates have to cover all the winglets from a side view and it doesn’t....
Looks like Mercedes tried to claim a grey area in the new rules of the front wings, the FIA said, no! It’s not legal to use...

http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mercedes-modifies-front-wing-china/4368992/amp/

I do find F1 teams will exploit a grey area and try to get away with it...The report above even claims Red Bull tried to do the same thing but wasn’t allowed to run it and had to change the wing.

I only knew this thanks to Nico Rosbergs You Tube channel.

Anyway let’s hope for a good big battle.

I’m calling it Ferrari 1, Mercedes 2, Red Bull 3.

Mercedes 1-2 but Bottas edging out Lewis.
Shame LeClerc couldn’t out qualify Vettel.

Lewis has. Even the king of qualifying for a while, but it seems Bottas has found some lap pace.

Looking forward to the race but will have to wait until the lunchtime highlights show.

So I've just seen the highlights and all I can say, only a small spoiler here, is Prost sucks at waving the checkered flag! :p

Is there a replay on at any point today? I can't seem to locate one.

What a shame Ferrari backed Vettel over LeClerc. I don’t think he’d have challenged the Mercedes today, but I think he’d have done better.
So all the talk of Ferrari being the tea to beat seems like a load of rubbish.
Mercedes have had 3x 1-2’s now. Okay one of them was incredibly fortunate, but the points don’t lie.

Not a great race. Especially for McLaren and Williams. Not really sure why they bother turning up sometimes!

This is already shaping up to be yet another snooze fest of a season, when 2nd place laps 9th place and the back runners are lapped twice, it again shows the obvious flaws this sport has....

Cannot wait for the big rule changes.

Anyway an alright race, shame Max couldn’t have Vettel but a good battle, and Mercedes did the second best pit stop I’ve seen, Red Bull last year is the best I’ve seen. Ferrari really messed up with their strategy.

But if it means Lewis wins again, I won’t watch it till those big rule changes are introduced, or they change the rules so it’s a different set for everyone outside the top 5 or 6, to reflect the two different races being run.

F1 and nascar seem to have the same problem, both of their cars are reaching the end of the generation, and the big money teams have just engineered the **** out of them. Hopefully f1 learns not to let just one manufacturer in the design room, like they allowed Mercedes, and hopefully Toyota has little to do with nascar’s new car. Otherwise we’re looking at another decade of **** racing.

Rule changes won't help unless spending is equalized. Otherwise, MB, SF and RB will just spend deep into nine-figures every year while everyone else does low-to-mid eight figures and within a couple of years we'll be back to where we are now - the 9F team that got it "best" will win the majority of races and championships while the other two 9F teams scrap for occasional wins and all the 8F teams just fumble around as mobile chicanes for the three 9F teams.

Those are the big changes expected to come in, and I could not care less about Ferrari threatening to leave, and Mercedes and Red Bull throwing their toys out the pram over the spending costs being equalised. Which is what they have been doing over the changes to spending and budgets they want to introduce.

That was Lewis Hamilton propaganda. He says that at the beginning of the season every year now. :p

Williams though... smh. How the mighty have fallen.

It’s because he likes being an underdog. Since he came from the wrong side of the tracks in Stevenage! :D

Haha, well I can’t tell if he’s styled as an F1 driver or a rap artist these days!!.. the hair, the gold and other bling... not so much an underdog look hehe.

The bugger can drive though lol! Also my thoughts of the Merc being unreliable seem unfounded so far.. hmm..

He looks healthier this season as well now that the drivers are not required to maintain an artificially low body weight due to weight calculations.

Not as noticeable in others, however he has really bulked up in muscle mass. :apple:
