2019 iMac "Assembled in..."

Curious where everyone's iMacs were assembled.

My googling tells me that possibly they are all mostly put together in China, and then Build To Order (BTO) machines are shipped for final assembly to either Ireland or the USA. Not sure how accurate that is.

Simply out of curiosity, where was your 2019 iMac assembled?
 
Ireland :) same as me.

Apple are in Cork since 1980 almost 40 years.

Important to me? It isn't. It's interesting and I'd mentioned it was out of curiosity.
 
Nothing wrong with that. Because of the tariffs, it's something we need to know. If planning to buy, do so before Apple passes the costs on to all of us.

Even if the labor is here (Austin) or EU (Ireland) the components still come from China as it states in my BTO iMac Pro About this Mac screen. Those components are definitely on the list.

They are probably assembled in China, where one or two listening and tracking chips are strategically placed within the circuitry (called motherboard not too long ago). That's probably done to a lot of cellphones, TVs, and other electronic devices built overseas, too. :)

not probably, they are assembled in china, with at least one or two listening devices, maybe more... :rolleyes:

Don't forget that some smart TVs that incorporate a camera can keep an eye on you when watching TV :)

But as long as you don't do anything illegal, it should be fine. Now, texting while sitting on the toilet could turn into an embarrassing situation, at least for the hacker who's controlling the cellphone camera.

I was told by Apple Premium Reseller online store support that EU BTOs are built in Ireland.
 
US Bound iMacs are assembled in one of three places: China, California by Quanta, or Pennsylvania.
