I’m really curious as to what antenna they will be using in this new iPhone, I had heard somewhere that Apple said they would no longer use intel antenna’s in their phones but then a few weeks later I saw something that said only the regular 11 would get the intel and the other 2 phones would have Qualcomm if anyone has any clarification on this please let me know I really hate those intel antennas

All Intel in 2019 iPhones.

Yup Intel, Qualcomm and Apple didn’t settle their law suit before having to decide which modems for 2019.

It was a way to show Qualcomm Apple can do it without them if they had to. So Qualcomm settles but inked deal already had gone through with Intel, so Qualcomm has to wait until 2020 now. Sadly so do we, Qualcomm modems are better.

Oh well no iPhone 11 for me. After having the dud Xs Max I would never buy another iPhone without the Qualcomm chip or at least correcting the poor reception issue. First time since iPhone 4 will not be upgrading. Gonna look at the Pixel 4. Apple's arrogance screwed themselves.

I think Apple caved, not Qualcomm. The lack of 5g was the real reason. Apple without 5g In 2020 would be an absolute disaster.

has the antenna ever been an issue? Have we ever talked about the company making the antenna?

I understood it to be the modem chipset. And yes, new models with Qualcomm are likely 2020.

Is it really that bad? I own an iPhone X and I'm considering upgrading to iPhone 11, but this subject is giving me headaches. Is it possible that we might get an improved Intel chip this year?

Both sides gave in. Qualcomm was under investigation and was losing apples billions. Apple wasn't happy with the licensing agreements and was using (slightly inferior) intel modems.

If the performance of the iPhone 11 modem is on par or better than the max I would have no hesitation in getting the iPhone 11 for that reason.

Yes I agree it was a win win to settle on both sides. They knew it too and met in the middle of what they both wanted.

Some business marriages, despite competition, can be overlooked when your first priority is to your shareholders and company profits at the end of the year.

They both played chicken and niether won.

It’s pretty bad the current iPhone’s have a lot of issues with gps especially if you play a gps base game like pogo, ingress, Munzee, or wizards unite the gps never moves where it’s supposed to it’s always lagging behind I’ve noticed it on waze as well, I’ve also seen android phones getting full signal on T-mobile and iPhones getting nothing

Apple's arrogance screwed themselves.
At least as many people believe that QC’s arrogance was the problem. Your opinion on this is no more than that.

No, but we got an improved antenna design.

Wrong Apple has a track record of muscling companies. Also the Xs Max reception is terrible had to sell it.

I’m wrong that there are people and judges who side against Qualcomm? Just to be clear, you’re saying that it untrue. How utterly bizarre.

So the 2019 Intel modems this year are getting 13% faster performance than last year’s modems from reports.

Should’ve been more like 20% better performance for a real upgrade but at least it’s not technically slower.

Naturally I’d prefer a QUALCOMM modem but may still end up buying an 11 Pro Max this year despite the modem. I’m on the fence on waiting for other reasons.

There is no such thing as Intel or Qualcomm antenna. It’s all Apple. The modem chip is either Intel or Qualcomm. It’s all Intel until next year. This year the Intel modem is a newer version.

I had LTE Connectivity issues with my XS. I was reluctant to upgrade this year but, took a chance. I don’t have any connectivity issues with my 11 Pro. It’s a better all around experience over the XS. no regrets.
