I’ll be honest I loved the iPhone XsMAX but the reception is just not up to par with a Note 9.
And since I highly doubt Apple and TSMC can get smaller than 7nm for the die it’s not gonna be such a huge change as 10nm to 7nm was.
So what features would you want for the new 2019 iPhone Pro 6.5”

#1. Improved cell reception.
#2. No 5G gimmick there’s no coverage yet.
#3. A vibrant colorful display.
#4. USB-C
#5. NO Glass Back. Which costs more than a new phone.
#6. LDAC and aptX HD support. (aptX HD I doubt since it’s owned by Qualcomm)
#7. 6GB RAM
#8. A new iPad Pro squared off more rugged design.
#9. New slim FaceID hardware with No Notch heck if the iPad Pro can do it.

In the end, 2019 will be a tough transition year, in between 4G and the start of actual 5G devices and coverage. I don’t want to beta test 5G I’m probably gonna skip a 2019 upgrade personally.

#1 Can’t comment as I don’t own one.
#2 Agree. 5G support won’t be useful outside of major cities until 2020 at best (in my country anyway).
#3 What’s wrong with the Max’s current display?
#4 For uniformity. I’d be surprised if Lightning is ever used again.
#5 I’m all for a Matt black plastic back, if it supports wireless charging. Fingerprints on glass backs not only look bad, but increase the chance of dropping the phone due to slipperiness.
#6 HD Audio? If so, I’m ALL for it.
#7 Even 5GB, as iPhones aren’t as RAM-hungry as their Android counterparts.
#8 The recent iPads are already squared off & have a much more rugged design than their predecessors.
#9 The iPad Pro’s have a ‘notch’...it’s a similar thickness to the iPhone notch. Face ID sensors requires that space, currently anyway. You can’t just remove that area & expect the iPhone to have the bezels of the right/left/bottom edges...you’re thinking of this the wrong way around.

Is this your wish list Alex?!

Ps. I don’t think glass back is going anywhere, not unless any other method of wireless charging is practically possible to be deployed at consumer level.

This can be everyone wish list, feel free to share your thoughts. I am skipping 2019 cellphones across All brands. There is nothing my Note 9 can do in 2018 than a device in 2019 can do.

I can tell you for 2019, it certainly won’t be called ‘Pro’. I think Apple has debunked this fake moniker for years now.

There is nothing my Note 9 can do in 2018 than a device in 2019 can do.

I think this can be said for almost any smart phone, not just the Note 9. Generally, smart phones are the same on a year-to-year basis, an iPhone 6s can perform mainly the same functions that an iPhone XS can.

I don't think usb c is coming to iphone, at least not anytime soon. I think it's in the ipad pros now because it helps them designate moreso with a laptop replacement. Since their Macs are usb c powered, they went with it for the ipad pros.

I don't think that 5g is gimmick, unless you upgrade each year, it's good to buy a future proof phone...

#1. Improved cell reception.

Agreed

#2. No 5G gimmick there’s no coverage yet.

Agreed

#3. A vibrant colorful display.

Samsung is the king of OLED. They're not going to sell Apple the best OLED's they put in their flagships. So the ones Apple is getting can be tuned to look just as good.

#4. USB-C

Sure.

#5. NO Glass Back. Which costs more than a new phone.

Won't that affect wireless charging?

#6. LDAC and aptX HD support. (aptX HD I doubt since it’s owned by Qualcomm)

They need to fix their royaltee and patenet disputes

#7. 6GB RAM

iOS is way more efficient than Android. 4 is fine, where 6-8 would be needed on Android.

#8. A new iPad Pro squared off more rugged design.

Ok.

#9. New slim FaceID hardware with No Notch heck if the iPad Pro can do it.

Agreed.

Tipping my hat to the "No USB-C" in the next 2 cycles, conservatively. But if I was a betting man, I'd bet the house that next year will still be Lighting port. USB-C while pretty awesome, is not a fully adopted port or widely adopted enough. They JUST started forcing it down users necks. It's going to take 12-36 months of Apple/Samsung/ETC pushing it.

1. Probably
2. Agreed. Current 5G solution requires a set of hardware, including multiple modules in addition to the modem. The additional components would lead to larger phone and/or smaller batteries. Who wants smaller battery with power sucking 5G? And coverage is literally non-existent and probably carrier specific as well.
3. I doubt there will be anything radically different
4. I doubt it. USB-C takes a lot of space compared to lightning. On the iPad, Apple has the space. On iPhone, I don't think so. I bet Apple's aim is to completely remove the charging port on iPhones once all the lineup support wireless charging.
5. Glass back stays to allow wireless charging. No way around that, and Apple would not want to use plastic.
6. Whatever the W2 will support
7. We just got 4GB standard, That's the same amount of RAM on the iPad Pro last year. With the XR having 3GB of RAM, I doubt Apple would just put more RAM without reason.
8. Probably not. The current XS design will probably stay for another 2 years (just like the previous iPhone 6 style being used for 4 generations). I do expect more colors.
9. The iPad did it because it has a thicker bezel all around its display, and spread out the sensor (so no notch). Cannot do that on a size as small as the iPhone. Nobody minds the notch today. Maybe smaller depending on the improvement of FaceID2, but we won't be notch-less for a while.
