Hello - I purchased a new 2019 MBP about 30 days ago (oops) and luckily was able to return it without penalty. So here I am weighing my options on purchasing either the 2020 13" MBP or wanting to know if it's worth it to upgrade to the 16" MBP for a better processor and graphics card? Any help based on experience would be great!

Primarily looking to use the computer to edit 4K video - and occasionally some graphic intensive games. Hard drive space isn't a huge deal for me as I retain everything on external drives anyway. Also worth noting I've never had bigger than a 13" MacBook and am worried the 16" is going to feel huge. With that being said, what would the better option be?

2020 13" MBP / 2.3 Quad-Core 10th Generation i7 / 32GB Ram / 512GB SSD (or)
2019 16" MBP / 2.4 Eight-Core 9th Generation i9 / 32GB Ram / AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB (or the 4GB base?) / 1TB SSD

Price difference is right about at $975 (or $875 with the 4GB Graphics Card). Or if anyone knows of some refurbished or used options that would be super helpful too! I wish I could get the better specs in the smaller screen, really :(

Thank you!

The 16" is going to help you more better when it comes to gaming and 4K editing, go for it.

9th Gen Processors> Current 10th Gen processors.

If you are interested in gaming, the 16” will be the better option since it has a discrete GPU (which will also help with editing 4K video). Consider getting a refurbished MacBook. Apple offers them at a 15% discount, along with a full warranty.

I checked online and Apple currently doesn't offer any refurbished 16" models yet. I'd be all about it. The best price I've seen is at expercom. The above model I mentioned is $3247 and no sales tax.

Follow up: Is an extra $150 worth it to go from a 2.3 eight core to 2.4?

Where are you located? There are certainly 16" refurb devices on Apple's Refurb store, you just may be missing them.

Tampa. See screenshot.

Means, 13 vs 16 is not equal. they have different spesific task.
of course 16 is better than 13 or 15.

its like BMW series 3 vs series 7 suv

for editing, please go with 16" :D

The refurb store is CONSTANTLY being refreshed and updated depending on stock. All that means is that 16" MBPs are currently not available -- not that they are never available.

Use a site like Refurb-Tracker to set up a notification to keep you informed when a product becomes available. You usually have to be ready to spring on it if you set specific criteria (for example I wanted an i3 mini with 1TB SSD... that took awhile to arrive in the refurb store and I insta-bought it!)
