Am trying to boot my new Air from the clone of my previous MB, have enable lowest security and booting from external devices in Recovery mode, but I get the message that the system needs to be reinstalled on the startup disk, but when I try to that it just boots back up into the AIr. I have done this process for decades, cloning my old computer to the new one with no problems. I don't want Catalina, and so am trying to clone the Mojave (latest version) external to the Air.

It came with Catalina. And that sucks big time if I can't use the previos OS with a new computer.

Because of all the glitches reported on this forum, among others. Catalina is a major re-write of the system with 2 separate partitions etc, and it makes sense that links dependecies etc get messed up. Since Mojave is rock stable, I figured to wait for the successor to Catalina which should solve most of these issues.

I've had no issues with my install of Catalina. been running it since it got released. Been super stable for me.

I could see issues with this if it were an upgraded installation, but I don’t think issues would be had with a new installation.
