Why did people spend years whining about how to turn it off before Apple turned it off by default? Why were there utilities that would try to catch the shutdown/startup sequence and try to mute the audio at the right time, because there was no NVRAM toggle for the chime?
I am an old product manager for G3 upgrade cards from Newer Technology. I have had to reset the PRAM on so many computers that with out a boot chime I feel crippled. I zapped the PRAM on my new 2020 27 when I installed my new RAM... without a boot chime... hated it!
