Any precautions when cleaning a 2020 iMac screen. Figured I would use a damp microfiber cloth and then use a dry microcloth to dry. Assuming I should use any kind of spray cleaner.

Water and a soft microfiber cloth used to clean eyeglasses should work. You could also use eye glass cleaner provided it doesn’t have any alcohol etc. Koala Kleaner does a good job. I use it to clean my glasses and they are still scratch free after 16 months.

For a 2020 iMac that DOES NOT HAVE the "nano" display, just use a soft cloth and a mild (no ammonia, etc.) cleaner, such as "Glass Plus".

Works fine.

The extra-cost "nano" display probably requires a different method....

The nano-texture display, in either the XDR display, or the 2020 iMac, comes with its own cloth. Apple says that is the only cloth that should ever be used. Water, or occasional use of IPA, can be used to moisten the cloth.

Your iMac came with a screen cloth (it’s packed in the same package as the stickers).

Is there any cleaner specifically for iMac screens? I know I can use water but looking for a cleaner people have used and trusted before.

I would be very careful about using a product or technique that somebody suggests on an internet forum.
Read carefully what Apple says:

At the very least, try what Apple says first.
You will have a tough time claiming warranty for damage caused by some other product suggested on an internet forum.

btw, I have found that cleaning per Apple takes some gentle patience. There is a temptation to hurry up the process by rubbing hard or using a cleaner, when in fact often plain water will do the job, just a little slower.

I’ve used Monster ScreenClean solution on my Cinema Display, so I imagine it should work for the iMac. I didn’t notice any ill effects. You don’t use a lot of it and you spray it on the cleaning cloth, not the screen itself.

Thanks will pick some up!

So I am gathering from all this just a microfiber cloth and an alcohol free cleaner would work on my regular glass screen? No nano screen not worth the extra $300!

Read the official support articles like people say. I've used iMacs since 2013 – just a touch of water and a microfibre cloth is all I've ever needed to keep the glass pristine.
