Every little bit helps but the battery protection circuitry is pretty small to begin with.
Current: 50mm long x 1.8mm thick
New: 26mm long x 1.00mm thick

That would free up what, ~1% of overall space inside of the device?

The "upgrade" in this case is getting rid of the Lightning port and moving to wireless charging only. Once that's done your requirement for a battery protection circuit is much reduced.

Now all you need to do is to add the wireless charging pad to stuff you carry around to keep everything charged. (And maybe a wireless dongle adapter, too.)

Apple have never been above using numbers to impress. They spend approximately $2,000,000,000 a year on marketing to impress (or do you think iPhones sell themselves).
I LOVE your signature line 😂

“make the apps default to the bottom?”

What does that mean?
I would assume they mean if your page isn't full of apps, have the apps start at the bottom and work up as opposed to starting at the top and working down. Could be wrong though.

I think most users will always welcome a larger battery. Who doesn't want a longer battery life? Since the iPhone doesn't have the fastest chargers in the world, a larger battery will be a good trade-off to beat those Android smartphone companies that claim they can fully charge their battery in 90 minutes using QuickCharge 3.0.

While the 2020 phone look to be great, I'm avoiding it, 5G is limited where I am, and boy there are going to be hardware issues, and probably some modem changes in the first couple of years too. If Apple stick to the three year design ethos I'll buy 2022's iPhone simply because all the kinks we be way gone (hopefully) and it will be the best hardware of the first 5G generation and 5G might have expanded across the networks enough to be useful.

Buying version 1 of any new tech be it a router (AX) or a 5G phone means being at that bleeding edge, my iPhone 11 Pro gets 120Mbps down and 30Mbps up on EE in the UK as I'm not limited to 60Mbps on my sim only plan, that fills my needs for now amply, and 5G really isnt for phones anyway it has much grander uses ahead, right now its just there to grab your band card yet again, for Apple and other such companies desperately needing the equivalent of a new car smell to sell thier hardware, and also see what several million beta testers tell them needs fixing.

I and many others don’t want larger, heavier batteries and thicker phones. Why do I want to end the day at 45% instead of 30%? I still charge at night either way.

They will need any amount of increased battery, as 5g is going to drain the battery even more

Seems like there are gonna be a lot of “firsts” in the 2020 lineup. I hope they’re testing the heck out of everything thoroughly.

Really excited!
I hope they test this through too. Many first gen Apple feature seems kinda wonky to me.

They could have even bigger batteries if they made the iPhones not quite as thin. Nobody would care except some fragile designer-egos at Apple.
iPhone isn’t a very thin phone any more.

I don’t think modem on this year 5G iPhone is gonna be bad. It’s from Qualcomm, which make the best cellular modem in the world.

And in 2022, iPhones will enjoy, 4,000mAh batteries, QHD+ displays, in-display fingerprint readers, hole-punch front cameras, 30W fast charging, curved displays(where the screen wraps the edge of the phones) without any bezels.
And in 2023, they will support 15W wireless charging, USB-C, 1TB of storage, and will be able to keep more than 2 apps in memory at once.

Maybe in 2024 they will have 65W charging, or 100W charging.

And Apple will try to say they invented it(everything I just listed is stuff that Android phones have, but iPhones don't.)

When was the last time Apple LEGIT said, that they invented something, but that technology was existing and mainstream?
Like, please, legit quotes from Apple heads or videos from presentations, not some interpretations.
No, I don't count some C grade tech bloggers, that state the obvious like "Oh, waterproof- Samsung phones got that for ages", because no one ever said, that iPhones are first waterproof smartphones on the planet.

And by Android phones you mean 50$ Alcatels or 1500 $ Samsungs? If all Android phones are good, I assume you use 50 $ Alcatel, because it is such good bargain and have all the good features?

I wish I could use an 11 Pro but unfortunately Apple’s OLED implementation burns my eyes out

‘Burns your eyes out?’ You should probably see an optometrist. However, You’re in luck. Apples iPhone 11 uses LCD, includes Face ID, and you won’t wont burn your eyes out...

They probably mean pulse width modulation of the OLED display gives them eye strain and/or headaches. I’ve had that problem severely with the first couple generations of Apple’s proprietary implementation of OLED. Fortunately this year they’d made enough changes I am fine with my 11 Pro and no longer suffer debilitating migraines from using the OLED display.

iPhones are already thick enough and have been getting thicker since the iPhone 6. The camera jump isn’t going away.
You're kidding right.....?

There is no reason Apple should have the camera bump. They could easily fill that space with more battery but for some reason there is this stupid drive to make EVERYTHING thinner.

iPhones are at a point they are at the perfect size, especially if they filled the empty space around the bump with battery.

This is why Jony Ive left: he wanted thin, he wanted to peel fruits with his iPhone and Apple was going to increase battery size, how infuriating!

I’m surprised Face ID worked so well on the first go-round with the iPhone X. Seems like there haven’t been any major issues with any X-series iPhones.

It doesn't matter. Apple isn't removing the camera bump. They've shown time and time again their committment to it. Deal with it or stop buying iPhones. No matter what you want to subjectively believe, every single iPhone since the iPhone 6 has gotten thicker AND heavier. That disproves your theory that they're obsessed with making iPhones thinner. They are literally making them thicker, heavier, and with bigger batteries.
