Good Morning,

are any of you experiencing a bend in your 2020 MacBook Pro 13" M1? Took mine out of my bag this morning and now it will not sit flat. More than likely it's my bag but damn this MacBook isn't even a week old. I know I should take it in but I hate running the risk of a new one having issues with screen, trackpad or anything else that's perfect on this MacBook Pro.

thanks
Tim

Have had mine ~5 months and no issue with this occurring.

It goes into an Incase ICON sleeve and into the laptop compartment of my backpack. I'm careful not to have it getting forced up against something smaller that might cause a bend.

it appears to have worked its self out while I have been using it. guess I need to make sure it's not against anything or the bag isn't packed to capacity.

My gosh, man.
What do you keep in the bag with it?
I'm thinking it probably takes quite a bit to "bend" a MacBook Pro with the lid closed...

This IS NOT going to be covered by a warranty repair!
Maybe you ought to get a separate carry case for the MBP, and keep it OUT OF the bag!

the laptop, two cans of Cokes, a book, and iPhone. it is a leather messenger bag with a laptop department. No issues with my 15" MacBook Pro when I carried it in the same bag. Oh well, I was just curious if it was something people were experiencing. thanks for the info!

out of topic, but is the one with the magnets? How is the sleeve? I am considering buying it but I'm afraid it could damage the internal components

Love the case - I've used them for years across different Macbooks.

I'm unaware of any internal components that could possibly be damaged by magnets(*), what specific components concern you?

(*) if I set my old rMB12 on its ICON sleeve just right the case magnet would trip the sleep sensor thinking I'd closed the lid.

I think with previous models, having magnets around the internal hard drive would damage them but that should be fixed with newer MacBooks as they use flash memories apparently.. that being said, I did hear about the sleep-wake issue, does this not happen with the newer MacBooks? And how you mean that they MacBooks' sleep sensor triggers, like if you put in on top of the case the MacBook sleeps?

tl;dr - sleeve works well and there's nothing to be concerned with.

You'd have to subject a HDD to a pretty strong magnetic field to have any impact on it - which just isn't something that's gonna happen with a weak magnet in a sleeve.

... and as you observe, SSDs are different animals and thus case magnets simply aren't a concern.

As for "sleep sensor triggers" - if I had the sleeve on map lap with the rMB12 sitting on top of it, if I placed it in just the right (wrong?) spot the rMB12 would think I'd closed the lid and go to sleep.

This never was an issue with my MBP15 or intel MBA or now my M1 MBP - probably 'cuz I just don't find myself putting the macbook on top of the sleeve.

Coke and MBP in the same bag? 😳 Do you really think that this is a good idea?

Not opened and in separate compartments. Regardless not packing that way any longer
Even if it was in a separate compartment, I still would not have my electronics anywhere near it. So many scenarios to think of what may happen. 😂
