Anyone else experiencing the battery life on the new MBP are absolute garbage? I swear my 15" MBP from 2013 lasts longer than this one does.

Check Activity Monitor to see what is consuming the CPU, and as the other poster said Chrome heavily impacts battery life negatively

Chrome and Zoom at the same time can be a pretty big load. Lots of network activity so the radios are always in use. GPU in the package is running and no DGPU to help. If you use an external monitor this could make it worse. Likely some heat being generated so fans are spinning which are often turned off on a 13 MPB.

Your 15" had considerably more battery capacity (8000 mAh vs 5100 mAh), so not surprised it would last longer under that load.

Well not a very fair comparison battery capacity wise as the 15" had a nearly 2" larger display to power, nearly double the wattage CPU, possibly a dGPU, etc

It's total garbage.

I read about the problems with Chrome so didn't even bother to install it, all I use is safari and brave. My battery drops 20% every hour, it's really pathetic but I am past the return period so I guess I am stuck with this.

Damn. Yeah I guess I was just expecting better longevity coming from such an old laptop. I’ll check out alternatives to chrome! Thanks everyone

FYI how Apple achieves 10 hours on the machine is that its set to 75% brightness, WiFi on and connected, and Safari is refreshing websites for 10 hours until it dies

My battery dies so so fast! It's crazy. Brand new 2020 13 MBP. I don't understand how chrome alone can be doing this. I am just using it for google hangout video work calls, emails and web browsing.
