But do you not think racing is just as boring if one driver dominates the race from start to finish where you end up hoping the driver is going to make a mistake in the hope it will make the race more interesting? because it is what will happen in my opinion if pit strategies were removed.

We have seen it many many times in F1, a driver on pole or a driver who takes first place on the first lap and they just go round and round and round never challenged then end up winning the race. Is that the kind of F1 you really want to see more of? because remove pit strategies and that is what you will get in my opinion.

I do think it’s boring when one driver dominates, but that is the model of F1. It’s an R&D category and unless you remove the factor of development, you end up with a closed racing series. Pit strategies are fine when it’s tyres, but very few want to see refuelling come back I would say.

I would be in that group. I'm not opposed to refueling in general, as I think F1 could make it safe outside of human error. I prefer the teams having to calculate their fuel loads at the beginning of the race, and then managing the power setting to ensure a minimum amount of fuel remaining at the end.

Creates another level of strategy from a Power Unit stand point that I enjoy. ;)

I am a bit confused on your stance of how you would want F1 to be. You appear to agree that having one driver dominate a race is boring but then say that is the model of F1 but surely having refueling and pit stop strategies is intended to break up a drivers dominance, yes?

So, if you think having one driver dominate a race is boring and by looking at your previous posts you seem to want to do away with pit stop strategies and refueling which in my opinion is to stop a driver dominating a race, what is your view on how F1 should be then? because having F1 the way some of you would want, a driver would be able to dominate a race from start to finish in every GP and the only way for the domination to stop is if the driver crashes. Is that the kind of F1 you want?

It doesn't just thought it interesting.

Usually the current F1 thread is kinda dead during the off season.

So, relax?

Haha great point. This is what they wanted to happen through the manufactured drama. Usually when the season ends we'd catch a glimpse of the FIA awards ceremony and then see you again for pre season testing. Now we're talking about F1 all through winter.

Drive to survive 4 comes out just before the 2022 season starts to ramp up the excitement once again. Funny how different the "sport" is when a media company runs it.

So basically what your saying is, when the F1 season ends, you lot normally stop talking about F1 until the season starts up again. To me that say's you lot are not strong F1 fans then if that is the only time you talk about F1 in here. F1 should be talked about through out the year, not just when season starts and finishes :)

You do as you please. I think it’s normal for sports fans to talk about the sport when said sport actually happens. I’m not going to judge how big a fan someone is based on how often they write about the sport when it’s having a break, neither am I even interested in labelling others.

To be fair, there is generally not anything to talk about between Season End and the reveal of the cars for the next season and even then, that is just commenting on aesthetics.

Not until Pre-Season Testing kicks off at Barcelona is there anything to really discuss since we see actual performance.

I mean it's not like the teams are giving factory tours showing the development of the new cars during the off-season. :p

Fond farewell Valtteri!

No mention there at all that he spent all his time in a spec 'b' development car.

Classy act - understated - not a bad thing in this age of multi media overload exaggerations.

That's the last of my fav views from the last few weeks :)

Hope You all had a nice xmas!

Roll on 2022!

Best wishes
Martin

Just a check on things, are we all in agreement that the 2021 WDC was in fact Mr Verstappen, and there cannot be any debate as it was Baku, 2021 in which a driver in car 44, 2nd at the last restart, when the lights went out, decided that he was tired of racing for the day/championship, and decided to go straight on, and thought left turns were for simple folk... That 2nd to 15th, blamed on buttons on his steering wheel, he designed, approved, used.. If you do the maths, had this driver in car 44, finished 6th or better in this Baku race, he would have an 8th title.. Mind you this was at least the 2nd time he felt that winning championships with duff drives, remember CHINA...2007..Drove himself, alone, without the aid of any outside agent, or race director, into a gravel trap... So he donated 2 titles.. very generous this driver of car 44...

any reason why you decided to make this a very complicated read?
