So, everyone is saying how the iMac with white bezels, a big 'Chin" and colored is ugly... I present hypocrite 101.

It was the rage back then....

I don't see how your post contributes to already existing topics regarding the new iMac design, especially seeing that all you do is post an image of the original iMac. What discussion are you trying to evoke here?

I guess you are referring to me? How does my post contribute and what am I trying to invoke? It's called laughter, which apparently you need more of. Also go look up satire while you are at it!

It isn't really a good argument, though. Retro designs are often controversial, as some people love it, and some people don't. Many people see it as a step backwards.

If Apple released a beige box with large beige bezels, and people complained, would you still call them hypocrites?

I think the problem is it was never an argument and was just satire which apparently couple of people have forgotten about.

Every Mac that I have personally ever owned was silver in color. That's going back two decades.

My mother only ever had all-white or silver. Passed on anything that remotely looked like a bowl of fruit loops.

At least the G3 iMac had an Apple logo on the chin... Although I prefer how the eMac looked.

The new colors don't bother me, but I wished there was a darker color with black bezels option. Maybe there will be when the larger size comes out or a pro-model to help differentiate the Pro-model from the regular.

As for the mix of colors of the past Macs, I think it was an important moment for Macs and consumer electronics in general.

Up until the original iMac, consumer electronics were very boring looking, and all pretty much the same color of beige, with the occasional electronic being black or white.

The 1998 iMac (and the later fruity colors), while not itself a huge mass seller when compared to other computer brands, opened the door to options of colors and designs. In the very late 1990's and early 2000's, there was some crazy looking electronics that took inspiration (or just copied) from the iMac.

Apple then went with the all white look, which much of the electronic industry copied as well.

I loved my eMac. Wanted a iMac lamp so bad but couldn't afford at the time so saved money by getting an eMac plus a super superdrive which at the time 5he low end iMac only had a cd drive. We think we have it bad no when it comes to USB a, c, mini but Remer when we had to worry about cd-r or cd-r+ or cd-rw. Hell I remember when I had to check if a cd player could play a mp3 cd lol
