I'm curious if anything's changed whatsoever with this, but for the newest 2021 Magic Mouse revision with the longer battery, has the battery itself become easier to swap out if you were to open up the top and pull the battery out without all of the glue? I know that it's technically possible to do so, but has Apple made it easier or is it the same story since 2015's original 2 model? My battery's fine since I just got it only a few months ago, but I was just curious from a technical perspective...

There’s been no change to the Magic Mouse 2. The battery is as unreplaceable as it has always been.

Thales, that’s what I thought. This is what sucks about an otherwise excellent mouse: it’s disposable (unless you’re like iFixit and have the tools to de-glue and can find a replacement battery with attached Lightning connector). Apple’s bound, even OVERDUE, to update their latest mouse, which is essentially from 2009! According to rumors, they’ve been working on one for quite some time now and, with the move to USB-C reportedly coming next year due to European regulations and Apple’s post-Ive 2000s era design ethos return, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them use that opportunity to make the move to FINALLY introducing a fresh new design, fixing all of the complaints of the current model…

Apple will replace the batteries on these (although I assume they're just swapping out the entire mouse) for $29.

Ah, I see! That's good to know! Not that I need it replaced or anything, but I definitely am a proponent of longevity and I would like to get the most use out of my stuff for as long as possible! That's why, whenever I buy anything, I consider how long it's likely to last before needing either servicing or replacing, just to get the best bang for my buck! With Apple's move to being more consumer-friendly as far as price and repairability is concerned, it makes me glad that this is possible and I can't wait to see they have in mind for their new mouse next!
