2021: Return of the Classic Buckle

I missed out on these past bands and they’ve been obsolete for years now!

Apple needs to return them, because they’re so classy and stunning.

Same could be said for pretty much all of the bands.

If that was the case then Apple would’ve stopped selling their sports band or leather loops.

Apple discontinued the modern buckle and it eventually came back

My favorite by far. I’m now in the process of going back and buying them. At least they are (mostly) going for cost or a shade under.

I loved the classic buckle. I still wear my 38mm saddle brown one with my 44mm SE several times a month. It’s such a nice and simple band. I tried a couple of the “better” knock offs but none of them held up or had the feel of the Apple ones. I have a feeling that they weren’t a big seller for Apple as I only came across a few other people with them over the years. I think the closest thing we have now is the Hermès single tour which is wayyy to much money IMO.

I just put my Black Classic Buckle on my new(ish) Series 6 Titanium for the first time today. The lugs are replaced with third party lugs (not as good as original) because for a time I had a Space Black Stainless Steel and I wanted to wear the black leather band. Now I have silver lugs (again third party) because I bought the natural Titanium Series 5.

Seems unlikely. Like I said upthread I replaced the lugs on my classic buckle band a few years ago but they were standard 42 mm size at the time and they fit the Series 4, 5, & 6 just fine. I’ve never had a problem with any 42 mm band on a 44 mm Series 4-6.

Where are you buying them?

42mm bands fit the 44mm just fine. The only thing that isn’t quite right is the thickness of the band to case pieces. Putting a 42mm in a 44 case will leave a bit of a lip from the case overhanging more than the width of the connector. Same thing putting a 44mm band on a 42 case. The connector will be a little thicker than the case slot and stick out a little. To illustrate what I mean, here’s a pic of a 44 band in an old Series 2 42mm case.
