As Calander user here in Australia I went in to work today only to be told it was a public holiday when I got there!

This is December in the UK. No Christmas Day, no Boxing Day. WTF?

Don't you have to subscribe to the holiday calendars? There are a lot of articles on how to do it, not that hard. If it is not working it seems like something broke in the calendar subscription, so how about just redoing it, yah?

Appreciate you think you’re being funny but holidays are built into iOS.

Yes, we can subscribe to another calendar such as the Government version. But you can only deselect Apple’s holiday calendar. You cannot remove it.

For those genuinely interested, Apple Support told me it will need a software update.

There are no holidays for me either... German user. Pls Tim, I wanna be free next christmas :p
Have you tried subscribing to a holiday calendar? Also if you go on the bottom of calendar on iOS and click calendars, do you see the holiday calendar? If so is it checked? If not, subscribe to one, there are lots of instructions on how to do that. I am not German, so can’t send link, it would be easier for you to find it

Still broken for me. I’ll check back in January 2023.

Apple needs to come up for air. They feel buried under the weight of expectations of swish new features while the core experience is beginning to crumble fast.

Just load up on multiple calendar subs and make a mess of managing them simply because a trillion dollar company can’t even manage to do the most basic of ****ing QA. Or not trust you to delete the holidays sub they force onto your device.

Thank you for your reply :)
Yes, the stock holiday calendar is indeed checked. I unchecked and re-enabled it a few times but still no holidays.

I’m aware there are subscribeable holiday calendars in the web as I use one on another device. It would just be nice if the stock one worked. As in the old saying “it just works”

UK here. My calendar is fine. I’m seeing all 2022 events in now. I’ve got both the apple holidays and the gov.uk feed and they are the same now. Well not the same but the apple feed is actually better due to having non bank holiday events too.

So it has now appeared for me in the UK - needed some fiddling to trigger a refresh.
My real disappointment is that this was flagged to Apple ages ago, but they appear to have taken months to fix what on the surface seems like a really simple task of adding the calendars from around the world.
I'm really hoping there was a really tough hidden technical blocker behind the scenes that we know nothing about, rather than Apple being incompetent and forgetting about the rest of the planet they sell stuff to.

It's true! No Easter Monday when I was attempting to book my next piercing trainer swaps outs for that Tuesday, back on new year's eve. No Australia Day ?? on 26 January and no Independence Day ? on the fourth of July. There should be a Steve Jobs ? holiday to celebrate the birth, existence and positive influence that many others and I have gained from having  in my life. And for lovers of Star Wars - we deserve a public holiday on May The Fourth.

It seems to have been fixed in Spain, too. Yesterday there were no holidays showing in Calendar, but this morning they suddenly appeared out of nowhere and seem to be working properly, both on iOS and macOS.

How did you trigger a refresh? I'm getting the 2022 UK holidays on my Macs but not on iPhone or iPad.
