Well, bands have been compatible for 38/40/41 and then 42/44/45 so…

I’d be more concerned about the existing sole bands/loops having to deal with a 4mm larger case, not sure that’ll work…
Thats reassuring from my end but ya curious to see if the 49mm will be compatible with the same bands.

Does that also mean people with the small S9 will not have any bands compatible with an S10?

The perfect device for people who want to live a phone-free life is a smartwatch. But not the Apple Watch (yet; see below). Because it should be a truly standalone smartwatch, without any dependency (does not require any other device for anything, including setup, although I would accept it if it required a Mac; I do NOT want to own a standard smartphone, not even for free!) and has a telescopic rotating retractable camera, protected from dust and sweat when hidden in what seems the crown neck. Besides, the telescopic camera is a great safety and privacy bonus, since it is only visible and active when you extract it manually.

It is like a miniaturized smartwatch with all its capabilities. You carry it in your wrist and do not notice it. Your hands and mind are free. You do not drop-break it or lose it. Not even thieves look for it. You can sleep with it and use a vibrating alarm to not disturb others when needed.

Amazingly, it costs about 100 USD ($), although I would buy one for ~1,000 from Apple if they made it as well. Unfortunately, they do not do it yet. But at least I have the cheaper one.

One last word. It is really amazing. It has changed my life!

Nice of Apple to finally save me money - I’ll never be buying an Apple Watch again. I already have trouble finding a band I like that will fit on my child-sized wrists. A bigger watch is just not doable for me, no matter what features they add. I never ever thought there’d a product I didn’t want to upgrade. Once again Apple - thanks for saving me money!

I wonder if Apple will include the blood oxygen sensors on Ultra 3's even with the patent battles but keep them disabled. Or they could save some of their money (still charge us the same or more) and exclude the sensor.

The throw everything at the wall, muddy the waters, disinformation campaign in the apple eco-system is something Russia wishes they could achieve at such a high level.

Every year all the rumors amount to everything under the sun and then some.
And you choose to listen them rather than wait until launch day.

I'm a first time AW buyer going into this Fall's launch of the Series 10. This will be a major turn off if there is an elimination of the 41mm size as I have small wrists and I'd prefer to not have a 'large' display. We shall see what actually is announced.

I just bought the 41mm Series 9. I guess the strat would be to look at the 41mm SE and wait until it catches up in style/features in the future.

It would be a dream come true if sleep apnea detection and even blood glucose monitoring came in this year’s watches. I know it will not, but one can dream.

Came here thinking I’d be the only one grousing about the size, but apparently there is pretty strong sentiment against Apple forcing us all into accommodating their uncomfortably large watches. I’m an average sized male and I have never owned above a 40mm. Anyone smaller than me — which is probably 50% of their user base — isn’t likely to be keen on it either. I have been hanging on to my Titanium S5 Edition to the point that it’s now considered ”vintage”, but I wouldn’t even consider an Extreme owing to the absurdity of the size. Wish I could be surprised, but Apple has long indulged this obnoxious paradigm of making the things we carry on our person (phones, watches) larger and heavier and the things that can live permanently in our workspaces (pro laptops, desktops) needlessly thin and light (and therefore also hot and underpowered.) And who has really ever asked for this? It’s just so backa$$wards.

I’m probably in the minority of customers who do not care about the size of the watches. I was happy that the Ultra had a bigger screen, even though I’m a woman with child size wrists. The Ultra actually doesn’t look any bigger than my S4. I chose the Ultra for the screen size and longer battery life. All I want is for Apple to release new health sensors on this year’s watches. It is nice that Apple do release watches in various sizes for their customers.

If it has no blood sugar and blood pressure sensors, it's not interesting for me. I don't dislike it become bigger. It will look big and stupid on some wrists.

I used to wear JNCO jeans, so having a slightly oversized watch does not even crack the top 10 of things I could wear that may look stupid on me.

I refuse to believe that the series 10 will have no smaller size on offer. I rather think that somebody mixed up some numbers, or that the numbers will mean something different from series 10 on. There are too many people that want the 41mm or so version, including me.

This article seems accurate.

It's likely Apple uses the same unit, millimeters or inches, to measure both the watch case and display size for consistency. Additionally, unless there's a need for a larger backplate due to new sensor technology or improved data collection, this size change is probably unlikely.
