The 2024 MacBook Air was just announced but Apple still offer
8GB Unified Memory
Just paying extra for the ram like always. It should be included in the base price. The base model still having 8GB RAM & 256 storage, but at least the higher build comes with 16GB RAM & 512GB storage.

Sad times. Huge international corporations used to be in it for the common good, and now you're telling me they're doing all this just to make a profit? It's all about profits, my man!
10tb of ram ? must be nice indeedWho cares? Cloud storage is a thing nowadays. I have 10TB +.

The MacBook Pro I bought in 2009 had 4GB of RAM standard, and could only be updated to 8GB.Year 2004 MacBooks: 8 GB RAM
Year 2024 Macbooks: 8 GB RAM
Thanks Apple, I guess maybe in 40 years you will increase the base RAM to 16 GB.
Meh, my lifestyle only needs the base model these days. I use cloud storage for almost everything so it’s basically a Chromebook for me. All my work is done at work.
If Apple bumps up the base model specs then cool but at this point in my life it wouldn’t get used. I would rather upgrade every 1-2yrs than pay for more parts and not get any value back from Apple when I trade it in. Been there done that.
If Apple made a legit 2-in-1 iPad Pro I would never have a MacBook.
Yep, it’s like comparing Apples to WindowsWhy are people talking about cloud storage?
This is about RAM on device
My M1 iPad Air has 8/256. A Mac is supposed to be more powerful, right?Rubbish, everyone needs more than 8/256. Everyone.

I could walk you through my day but I only use my laptop 1-2 times a day and it’s for YouTube while everyone else is sleeping or browsing the internet cause my iPhone is too small or I need a desktop browser.Rubbish, everyone needs more than 8/256. Everyone.
Idk, but if Apple thinks they’re one in the same then I’d like MacOS on my M1 iPad, please. Why is it supposed to be more powerful?

If a machine is more powerful, then it would theoretically require more resources than an 8/256 configuration.
Hold up. You just said a few comments above that everyone should get more than 8/256. Are you backing down from that stance now? That sounds like a ton of speculation to me.

Everything else I do is either on the TV or phone. All my work has to be done in the office. So tell me why my use case NEEDS more than 8/256?
