I saw a clip from a presser with Heupel on Sports Center. I think it's the right decision for the program, and for the right reasons. We've seen hot shot QBs flame out after their egos inflate their value in their mind. (see Jeff George, Jay Cutler, Johnny Manziel) The influence of the almighty dollar has come to the NCAA now, so it's not surprising to see this playing out before players are even drafted. Someone will be the first to test the waters and end up not even getting drafted by an NFL team, then flaming out in the UFL, if it survives.

My interest in college football was already naturally waning, but what it has turned into since the NIL battle caused the NCAA and schools to implode has robbed me of any enthusiasm for the sport, and the mercenaries who now take advantage of the situation.

The schools could have gotten ahead of this by making concessions earlier, and at a pace and manner that they controlled, but they blew it, and have totally lost control of the situation. No tears shed for any for them.

phew... almost started a duplicate thread...

The opening weekend, August 23rd, has an uninspiring schedule to say the least.

Week zero, not sure why NCAA Football does this but football season starts :)

@maflynn
The game is being played overseas. They have to build in travel recuperation before playing in the US.

Well, I was surprised to hear them say that KSU has a game 1 week later. I could not find ISU on that week's schedule.

It ended up being a pretty good game.

Why they have them play in Ireland now has me scratching my head as well.

Iowa State won 24 - 21.

The helmets were on point in this baby. Iowa State's looked fantastic.

*Kansas beat Fresno state 31 - 7 and I just wanna say the helmets in this one was also beautiful.

*Hawai'i edged Stanford 23 -20 on a last second field goal.

*Not sure why you have to look so hard to find the results for these two games.

Yeah I'm a bit of a helmet geek. is that a thing?

I noticed that last year and yeah it’s frustrating
So I looked at one part of ESPN and they only show one game last night - which I watched. It was a fun game, don't get me wrong but I think there were other games

WTF ESPN can't even get this right. While I like watching Boise vs. South Florida, it wasn't considered a close game. The rutgers game on the other hand may have been something I enjoyed. SMH. I'll not be using ESPN any more to see what games are occurring.

Boise got spanked... wow. And from an unranked team. Yikes!

South Florida is one of those teams that can be better then their record shown, and I think it was a trap game for Boise. It was largely anyone's game in the first quarter, both teams miss-stepping, but slowly and surely South Florida took control.

Colorado lost to Georgia Tech, Without their star player (Travis Hunter), I wonder how things will play out this year. Their next game is against Delaware, so they ought to win that game.

So im testing the double game feature on the ESPN app and well it's kinda a failure because of all of the ads. The problem is the audio doesnt change to the other game but stays with the ad so it's more of a distraction and annoyance unfortunately.

Texas ... wtf?

Archie Manning has actually played college football before, right?
I'm not surprised, the expectations were unrealisitic and tbh. People were all but expecting him to be walking on water.

How about Alabama, what a fall. I'm not normally an FSU fan, but them playing at home, with the crowd going nuts, it was nice to see them the underdog to knock them off.

Tenn looked very good with their new QB, where as Nico Iamaleava struggled as the UCLA QB, if you remember he held out, not practicing unless he got 4 million dollars - they kicked him off the team and went to UCLA

WHAT!?!? I totally missed all that and I live three hours from UT/Knoxville. wow

I don't like bama or fsu but I was rooting for fsu.

The LSU/Clemson game was pretty good it seems. I was for both lol.
