Enjoyable race. I’m due the McLaren team were very happy to pull in Lando for the first pit stop and split them up on track.

Max wasn’t so annoyed by being taken out because he knows he isn’t competing for the drivers or constructors titles this year.

Also he was never going to get on the podium, so is he really interested in P4 or P5 at this stage of his career?

Some of the back markers seamed blissfully unaware they were being lapped. No excuses for that unless the radio was broken.

Not sure why they didn’t let Lewis stay out. He had such a gap to the next car, it was worth the punt if there had been a SC or even VSC.

Silverstone next up. Will be nice to watch a live race for a change.

I think the fact that Kimi apologized and took full responsibility right away showed maturity and Max respected that. Idiots gets thrown out over the radio just as much as box box
Exactly. Too much media hype against Max. He is respected and good friends with these guys. It’s **** that it happened but so be it.

Funny though that here is someone actually taken out of the race and the British press is quiet. 🤷‍♂️

Perhaps his rookie status was taken into consideration. When Max drives aggressively, he knows damn well what he is doing; this seemed more like a rookie mistake while stacked with a mess of cars. And Kimi took full responsibility immediately.
Yes he know full well, and nothing happened ;) There was skill involved.

Max’s post comments were interesting. “Yea, it was just unlucky.” Seemed like he almost wanted to praise Kimi. I’ve never seen him so unaffected from being taken out.

He’s going to be in the W17 next year…..
Hehehe it is in the second line of our national anthem. Now where would George go? 😇

The pre-race show was comical. I feel bad for Bernie sometimes. She does an excellent job sticking to race craft and engineering. Yet she is paired with Natalie and her constant commitment on how many British drivers are in the race. It’s like watching Teletubbies. Sky F1 coverage is like watching water drip. Not bashing GB in general. Just Sky.

Red Bull…😉

Glad I watch the channel 4 show.

This. He knows 3rd in the WDC is the most he can hope for, and maybe not even that considering...

Agreed. Horner claimed his aborted qualifying lap would have put him second, but I think fifth was more likely considering how much he was struggling.

Or at least keep him out until Lando and Oscar pitted because at that point, he still would have had a "free" pit stop.

But this is Ferrari and the Three Stooges have moved from the pit crew to the back room.

Now where would George go? 😇

His only option is literally Red Bull or Racing Bulls - both because they are the only teams with a 2026 spot and because Red Bull would want the best option they could get to replace Max.

RB should sign Kimi to replace Yuki next year. I think he has potential ability/driving style similar to Max to handle that car better than the last 3 drivers. (Assuming Max stays with RB).

Toto put Antonelli in the Mercedes this year explicitly to keep him out of Red Bull's hands. I expect a three-year (minimum) contract announcement either at Silverstone or during the Summer Break.

Not a chance Toto loans Kimi to Red Bull. Toto sees the skill sets. He can’t risk loosing Kimi like he lost Max. Toto still hurts over that move.

I don’t see a 3yr for George. Allot will go down between now and the Dutch GP. Anything is possible right now..

Agreed. Two years for George with a team option for a third year and three years for Kimi.

Agree on Kimi. I just don't feel a 2yr contract is a guarantee for George in this environment. I think a 1yr with an option for 1yr could very well be what the hold up is. This contract was supposed to be a done deal at Silverstone. Now Toto is openly saying by the Dutch GP. Horner now openly saying "the WDC is no longer a target for the team" as well. I think we all knew that already, but to openly make these comments if you're trying to keep a driver who is still in 3rd place with 13 races to go? This speaks to me in a way that's not inclusive to George.

Personally I'd like to see Max and George as Team Mates. Let Kimi go to Alpine for a year.

At this point I have no idea.

Honda desperately wants Max at Aston Martin and the rumor mill around Red Bull is swirling like an F5 tornado with up to and including tossing Horner if that is what it would take to keep Max.

So depending on how one interprets this Pirelli tire graphic, it may be that the Soft must be used in Qualifying and the Medium and Hard must be used for the race. Tire compounds are one level softer than the 2024 race so two stops are pretty much going to be mandatory.

Alpine and AMG Mercedes are said to be in preliminary discussions to possibly replace Franco Colapinto with Valteri Bottas if the former's form does not improve.

Alpine reserve driver Paul Aron will also drive the Sauber during FP1 in Britain and Hungary as Sauber does not have a named reserve driver and FIA rules require that each team make one car available at least twice for the season. In addition to the two Sauber runs, Aron will also have three FP1 sessions with Alpine.

Multiple news outlets are reporting today that Max has entered negotiations with Mercedes with the BOD having given the ok.

Yes this morning The Race posted a video noting that Verstappen's management has approached Mercedes. And with Red Bull now out of the running for the CC and Max now (effectively) out of the running for the WDC, it makes sense for him to look at how the Red Bull and the Mercedes look next year before making a decision to stay or jump ship to the Silver Arrows in 2027.

I suppose if George only gets a one year extension with a team option for a second year, that pretty much means Max and Toto have a private agreement for him to move if he wants.

In other news, I went and saw "F1: The Movie" last night. It wasn't IMAX, but it was a big screen and the theater did have Dolby Atmos audio so the amazing cinematography and sound design/soundtrack was highlighted. Overall, I do recommend it as a viewing for an F1 fan, especially if you can see it in a premium format (IMAX, Dolby Cinema, etc.).

Offspring is going this weekend. In IMAX. I'm jealous. :)

I agree. We went last night. Very impressed. Apple’s modification of the standard iPhone camera for the on car shots were impressive. I’d give it a must see in theater if possible.
