If this becomes reality then I wouldn’t be surprised if F1 TV stops showing live races.
Thoughts?
What idiot runs Netflix? They are complete morons.. Really they should not be trusted on choosing their own underwear or what to have for breakfast...Thoughts?

It would be nice to see them kill Sky F1 off. I’m happy with Channel 4 highlights personally but it would be cool to have access to the occasional live race as I already have Netflix. I’d imagine the price will go up with that coverage though. Interesting nonetheless.Thoughts?

Or they add some sports tier. I follow cycling and to watch the grand tours (Giro, Tour de France, and Vuelta) I first of all need a subscript to (HBO) MAX (between €10 and €20 per month) plus an additional €30 per month to get the sports package that mostly contains sports that I am not interested in. I'm not going to spend €50 per month on a streaming service so last year I just watched highlights on YouTube. I've already given up on watching F1 live for the last couple of seasons. It would be nice to see them kill Sky F1 off. Also happy with the extended Channel 4 highlights. I prefer the line up too.It would be nice to see them kill Sky F1 off. I am pretty sure F1TV (the smart device stand alone app, different than the Formula 1 app) lets you watch the race at anytime once it has started; I think maybe you are thinking of the F1 channel that you *might* get depending on what smart TV you have. I have a Samsung and I get a F1 TV channel for free; but it does not play recent races until a week after they happen.F1TV needs to get with the idea that local is better, they could/should have a way to price the access in local currency, for example have a 1/2/3 day option, so you can pay for what you need, maybe as a bolt on to Netflix, as an in app purchase? I am often at work when the race goes live, and have to wait for the crappy broadcaster here to replay the race.. But if I could pay a couple of local currency, and get the race streamed 2 hours after it started.. Instead of waiting until 5am the next morning, or 7pm on Monday night..It would be worth paying for...

Exactly, US broadcasting rights. There will still be Sky in the UK (who has exclusive right, I don't like that), and ViaPlay in the Nordic and other countries like the Netherlands. We have Sky Q to watch F1 in UHD in the UK, I gave up ViaPlay in the Netherlands and now use F1TV on an AppleTV. And I use my phone to cast or watch F1TV everywhere else. The article mentioned this was for the US broadcasting rights, only, so it should have no impact outside of the US.
And I would expect F1TV would still be available in the US since not everyone has ESPN/ESPN+, either, so an alternative streaming source is required.
I can't really pin too much blame on Audi, since they made the move less than a year of gaining control of the company.
As for Sauber, my guess is Peter could not afford to build an all new facility in the UK as much as a desire to stay in Switzerland with their existing staff (just as we say the UK staff would not want to move to the Gulf States, so perhaps the Swiss staff did not want to move to the UK).
The 24 car limit is due to infrastructure. Many tracks simply cannot accommodate more F1 cars."The maximum number of Formula One (F1) teams allowed is 12. This limit is set out in the Concorde Agreement, which is a commercial contract between F1 and all teams that race in the sport. The current agreement is in place until the end of the 2025 season. "
At the moment we have 10 teams... where are the other 2 teams? Why 12? why not 15? for a 30 car grid?
Why did Audi buy Sauber? When Audi bought Sauber, or any team is sold, what are they selling exactly? And no it is not the team, they are not slaves.. you cannot buy people legally...
For example when William's sold their team, what did they sell? They sold their "spot" their 1 of 12 rights on the grid.. So if we have 10 active teams, we have 2 non-active non named teams owned by the FIA/F1/Liberty.. Which is confusing as you cannot own 2 teams.. Red Bull cannot run 2 teams.. But yet we have 2 teams owned by 1...
F1 is like timeshare, you are buying into the right to visit some hotel for x number of days, F1 is run like a timeshare, teams buy in 1 of 12 "slots" and this is what is traded, it it not the team itself, or it's position, that has almost no value in of itself.. In a way it is a subtle form of cheating, to buy in a team, to take over like we have seen with Mr Stroll a few years back, or the fire sale of William's after/during covid times..
What makes no sense is why would Liberty/FIA/F1 hold onto 2 ghost teams that are not contributing to the income stream? Why not go for 12 active teams? Why have 2 non active ghost teams and 10 active teams???
Actually, you can when you buy a business. There are several constructs in law, and employment law, that dictate that people have to stay in their roles. And it works both ways, you also can't just get rid of people. I've had specific conditions in my employment contract surrounding several things, including takeovers. And/or part of the due diligence stage of a takeover, conditions added surrounding my employment. It is really not that unusual."The maximum number of Formula One (F1) teams allowed is 12. And that is why there is an overall agreement, it is part of the investment teams make. Yes the slot is one, but a successful team is worth something as well. All part of the bigger picture. Even a little 10x5cm spot on a uniform is worth somethingFor example when William's sold their team, what did they sell? They sold their "spot" their 1 of 12 rights on the grid..
