Week "zero" of college football - why do they even call it that?

I see the visitors largely winning in the list below though I'm not sure about Sacamento and eastern Michigan

Yeah I saw that and in honesty I just disgusted and done. Its at a point where the judges are running college football and the various schools go to their local court to get the ruling they want.

I'm excited to have football back, but this is ruining the game and cannot continue

Usually, in Week 0 (which gets its name by virtue of being before week one) 😉 the visiting teams are "playing up" at schools that are in a bigger conference. On that basis alone, I'd predict that more home teams will win. You could give us a scorecard tomorrow if you want...

Even if one ignores all the legal stuff, and sticks only to the game, the way the system works now with players as mercenaries, free to come and go, the sport has been robbed of what set it apart from the pro game.

Even in the NFL, free agency has restrictions, and players must honor the contracts they sign.

Looks like we may be heading to a showdown between LSU and the SEC.

SEC seems adamant about prohibiting professional players returning to play collegiate sports. What's funny is that all 16 schools in the SEC voted for this, including LSU, yet LSU's own coach is seemingly flouting that rule. He does have a court ruling in his favor, but why would the school vote in favor of this when their own staff is looking to do the opposite.

Heard a clip of him talking about how he met with his team captains, and they were ok with having these players just waltz into the program, blah blah blah, and that's how the real world works, so…no problem!

Also mentioned was LSU's NIL spending, so I became curious.

Schools try to shield athletic program financial figures like state secrets, but the common belief is that LSU are in the top-3, at over $40 million on their football roster, behind Oregon and Texas.

FWIW, some CPA has taken an interest in this stuff and published a site about how the sausage is made.

CFB thrives on hype and controversy, but at least in the past, most of it was confined to the field, and polls.
