Max is making Jos look better every
Yea. I really missed the boat. I really felt the birth of Lily had changed him. He probably should just retire from F1. He really doesn’t like it anymore. Although I don’t mind seeing the Guardian being slapped.

After watching the eviction I feel he could be successful in Politics. We do this kind of stuff over here every day in certain Press Rooms. 😉

And by the way, it's not like journalists don't hold grudges...

I've seen them go on massive, very personal vendettas that actually ruin someones life just because the journalist didn't succeed with a "gotcha" line of questioning.

Of course they do. A lot of tabloid journalism in F1 since the arrival of Liberty. You should have been at my family gatherings after my MIL finally resigned to the fact that her daughter wasn't marrying a Medical Doctor, or Corporate Lawyer and would be gone for long periods. Continued right up to her last days. I was always the villain. 😉

I can understand Max not wanting to think about that after having just lost the championship. But to hold such a grudge four months later over a mundane legitimate question is pretty silly. Richards hadn't even asked a question in today's event before Max threw a tantrum.

There, fixed it for you. 😉

Max should have been deported from Japan, he had no right to exclude a member of the press... If he does not like the question, don't answer... But Max should have been expelled from Japan, maybe a couple race suspension...

It says a lot about the maturity of Max, in that he is very immature.. Sticks and stones, words etc.. Right.. That The Guardian has that much power over Max, impressive.. But the journalists, all of them, should have left Max alone...

It backfired on Max significantly as it’s put him even more under the media spotlight. Lewis also has an issue with this particular journalist and refuses to answer his questions, but has the maturity to avoid them in a more classy and respectful way. Ordering a journalist out of the room was just embarrassing and set a very awkward tone. Many feel the frustration of not having the best car or close after so many years was the real issue here and Max knew he was going to be probed with a difficult question. F1 needs to step in and not allow drivers to execute these sorts of ego trips so publicly going forward. Drivers are not bigger than the sport and journalists are part of the circus. Deal with it, or drive in a series with less interest and exposure.

Sad..the journalists that remained are no longer journalists, they lost their credibility, they are now de facto Public Relations for Max...No journalist should allow anyone to control them...That is why we have Public relation officers..

Journalists should be independent, they are there to report, and if someone has an issue, then that is the story.. Max feels threatened, and that makes me curious.. What does the Guardian know??? Why is Max afraid?

Not a fan of Max - even less so now - though I think the journalist's question last year was a cheap-shot dig at Max - but cheap-shots are what you should expect from journalists. Max should just deal with it without throwing his toys out of his pram.

The other journalists in the room should have stood with the Guardian journalists but self-interest overrides that. The Guardian journalist should have stood his ground as well, it's not up to Max which journalists are in the room.

F1 should censure Max over this.

I stand with the Guardian journalist, 100%, I have forced team principles to do their contracted duty, even when the team lost 7 nil, against a team about to be relegated, they wanted to refuse, I told them straight, you have 30 seconds to comment or my report will be "refused an interview.." that is automatic match suspension, and massive fines, and the team could loose points..

No one is bigger than the sport.. Max really should have been escorted to the airport, held under guard until his plane arrived, 3 yr ban from Japan...He was abusive towards Japan...

But the FIA will do nothing, they are terrified of his dad.. No way, Max could say everything rude about the FIA, and nada.. Lewis so much as says anything, and out.. a ban..

Max should not be in Japan right now.. He has no right to determine who is and is not at the press conference, even if it a "Red Bull" event.. Max represents both Red Bull and the FIA.. So what he has a problem, then you as adults, have a meeting, you discuss in private, Jos with the editor of The Guardian, not Max and the journalist... The journalist is doing his job, asking questions, after all the journalist is there in proxy for the readers of his publication...The journalist is there to stand in, as there is no space for millions of spectators...

Journalism is the watch-dog.. They are there to ask questions, probe, question the FIA, the teams, the drivers, and if Max cannot handle this, then Max should rather take up netball.. Or lawn bowls... He is unfit to operate in the pressure of F1.. He needs maybe to be assessed by a sports psychiatrist..

The changes from 9 MJ to 8 MJ won’t be helpful today. Once we lose the Ferrari start advantage and the battling in the first few laps it’s going to expose these Yo-Yo regulations even more.

The adjustment they made to the battery deployment for qualifying was nothing more than PR. Drastic changes are needed to bring back credibility over a single lap. Watching cars LiCos into every corner is hardly what F1 was meant to be.

McLaren looking much stronger in Japan, at least on one lap pace, with Oscar leading FP2 and even with Norris spending significant time in the garage with battery and gearbox issues able to make 4th. Ferrari fell to third behind the McLarens and Mercedes, but they looked like they were still struggling with setup. The wind in the Spoon Corner was really upsetting the cars, with everyone going wide.

The FIA doesn't care about Jos. They don't care about Max, either, for that matter.

Who does care about Max is FOM. They cannot risk a four-time consecutive (and for want of two points, a five-time consecutive) World Champion publicly quitting the sport over the rule-set they oversaw put into place.

Not a fan either. But calling out a journalist and chucking them out of the press briefing is all the rage these days.
Clever people use the opportunity to their advantage.
Not so clever people who are less secure in themselves not so much.

Yes they are. They were saying what ever the software problem was in China it rendered both cars batteries permanently unusable. Quite the PU turnaround. Maybe Mercedes is being a little more supportive?

One thing to note about the press conference, this was not an official FIA / FOM press event. It was a private event set up either by Max or Red Bull. Doesn't excuse Max's actions, but arguably it does give him (or the team) the right to decide who attends.

This has been discussed on other sites as well. This was a private Red Bull Presser. As you stated, no FIA /FOM. Max would not have done this at a FIA/FOM event. Like I’ve stated before. I have no respect for Richards. He is tabloid material at his best. Nothing related to journalism in his DNA.

I decide who is allowed on my property. They have 2 options when I don’t want them on it. Voluntary and Involuntary.

Giles would not have been there unless RedBull had invited him. It's still not up to Max, it was up to RedBull, and there will no doubt have been some awkward discussions in RedBull afterwards as this is not a good look.
