Check eBay for some sealed TAM's. Buy it now price is a low $1500. I'd buy it if I can save up that much from my job at the library. :D

First off, if it is indeed a factory sealed Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh (TAM), leave it in the box - as an investment. It's probably in the top five most valuable Apple computers that reached production,so you've got a pretty significant machine there. Add to that the fact that it's still in the box and the value goes up considerably. You could concievably net $2000 from the right buyer.

Still, considering the huge sum the TAM commanded when new (and the values they will reach as they appreciate into true collectors items), the current market value simply screams buy, buy buy!

This thread has made me really exited about the innovative and revolutionary - both functionally and esthetically - 30th anniversary Mac, which should be showing up in just about a year... any rumors yet?

btw, read this on apple-history:
... I was actually selling macs retail at the time of it's release and there was a very Apple-esque promotion based around the celebration. You mention that it started at a retail of $10 K. But what this included was that a limo would deliver the Mac to your house, and a man in a Tuxedo would set it up for you...

Hilarious ... is this true?

Yeah, it's gonna be a Powerbook G5 with a 3GHz dual core CPU. Steve wants to finally make good on those promises, just for some closure to the PPC story...

hang onto that sucker until you meet someone who will give you AT LEAST $57 for it. Anything less that that is just not fair.

Seriously, I remember when that machine came out, and then it was in the batman movie. I thought it was soooo cool, I wanted to get one. You should hang onto it as a really cool peice of apple history, or untill someone really does want to give you "a lot"** of money for it.

**Definitions of "a lot" may vary by user

Do you have the radio antenna by any chance? What does it look like? The person I bought mine from didn't have it anymore :(

Also, have you ever hooked yours up to a TV?

From what I've read, yes, it's true. If you Google you might be able to find more info. I could've sworn I read an account by someone who had it done. $10,000 though, that's a lot of cash

There are some pictures of mine here:

http://www.jwandrews.com

Mine HAD 10.3 on it because it does have the Sonnet G3 (400Mhz) upgrade card in it, also has 128Mb RAM, and 6.0Gb HD. But the TV and radio doesn't work on 10.3 so I backed it back to 8.6 (original) and upgraded to 9.1 (latest OS that allows the TV and radio to work).

Should I open it or not

Should I burst open the oringinal packaging( STOP DROOLING!) and use this beautiful machine, or should i keep the box sealed up, and watch the value rise?

All vote now!

i been wanting one of these bad to to have it for a collection. i say them on ebay at one ttime but didn't know how important they were now i would spend my last to get one, you guys models look great!!!!!!!

one of the nicest - just slick looking apples ever. Sleek usually doesnt hold up well over time, but for the 20th century mac it definitely has. Definitely keep it sealed. I wish i had one too. I remember how outlandishly expensive they were.

When you want to retire and travel the world, sell it.

Seriously. It is worth a hell of a lot... if you want to use a TAM, buy another. Sealed-in-box is unheard of with TAMs.

In fact, stick it in a contractor bag or 2 so nothing happens to the box.

You got a SEALED Spartacus.

God damn man I envy you.

On another note, I feel rather dumb now. I had a 64 MB module that fitted in these machines but it was trashed with the broken 5400 it was in. Damn it. Should've pulled it. I would have just given it to anyone who asked. There goes my brain again.
