My 27" just arrived and it has backlight bleeding too, its normal for a LCD/LED screen. It almost goes away on low brightness and gets worse at the brightness is turned up.
I noticed this slight issue as well on forums, though I wouldn't consider it a defect. Pure whites are still white uniformly, and this is only noticed with the specific colour of the off-white/beige dialog box. If you tilt your screen or position yourself above and below it you'll see that it's related to your viewing angle. If your display is otherwise flawless I would keep it as. I sure rather keep mine than run the risk of getting a worse display.
Hi, new Apple user from Germany here.
I have the "yellow tint" too on my new 27" iMac-and I'm having a hard time deciding what to do.
Here's a picture I took today:

The picture shows the issue (if you can call it that) as I see it with my own eyes.
I'm only noticing it with off-white, light-to-medium grey and with pure-white (to a much, much lesser degree which could also be me imagining it). MacRumors Forums seems to be worst-as I type this on the "Reply to Thread" page I'm noticing it very slightly. Also, it really depends on the screen-distance and the viewing angle. And strangely it seems to be better at some point and worse at other times during prolonged use. Maybe I'm becoming OCD about this because I'm overthinking it....
Other than that, the screen is perfect-virtually no backlight-bleed, no dead/stuck pixels, no uneven backlighting. Same goes for the machine as a whole: it's virtually silent (except for a very, very slight "whoosh" sound from the fan, which I consider to be normal), no nicks and dents, etc. I really love this machine!
I'm really conflicted what I should do: Just don't worry about it or get a replacement. With a replacement comes the danger of getting a machine with other problems, of course.
I need other opinions to make up my mind. Please, feel free to speak your mind.![]()
I'm hoping you are right it being the old glue issue!Yeah, I've been thinking the same-who knows if there is a perfect one out there.
And, to make things more difficult to decide, my screen seems to improve. I don't know if this is even possible, but the yellow tint seems less noticable since I took that picture. I've been editing pics (Japan vacation) all afternoon on Lightroom, and MacRumors looks better now. Strange. Could this be a glue thing from the lamination that improves over time? Like some time back with the iPhone and iPad?

As I have mentioned in another thread.(could be this one actually!) Apple will send you what is called an 'Advanced Replacement'. In other words. You keep the one you have and they send you a new one before returning the original!@Chuckstones: Yeah, it seems to go away with a bigger viewing distance. I don't know what to make of it.
@Huensli: Did not help. The lower part was still warmer (at MacRumors). But that really is the viewing angle and the distance to the screen dependent. And there are times (after a few hours of use, such as with Lightroom) where I no longer see it. Total odd-maybe your wife right and we hallucinate.
Does anybody have the feeling that it gets better over time when the iMac is being used over a span of a few hours or so?
Right now I'm leaning slightly towards a replacement. But I don't know if Apple in Germany will let me keep the one I have now until the new one arrives. That's an absolute must for me-can't be without a computer. And I'm still fearing that the next one could be a lemon with something else wrong...or no fixed yellow tint.

Like junk isn't produced in other countries too? U.S. made cars are hardly the cornerstone of build quality. Just sayin'.
I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I just tested my brand new iMac 21.5
Take a look at the lower right hand corner. Do you see any problem??? Or maybe just my eyes are too sensitive.
There is also a problem of back lighting. Take a look it. That's unacceptable.
If anyone of you have 2012 iMac, I suggest you to test the display first as you have probably paid a lot of money for it.
