Hi all,

I just got delivered the LG 34UM95 to use with my 2014 macbook air.

First, it's a piece of wonder! I don't regret at all my Dell U2415s. Having a single screen with no bezels in the middle is amazing!

now to the issue. is anyone running splitscreen applications on their macs?

LG has a SplitScreen application that supposedly makes your monitor behave as 2 or more different monitors to the mac. It doesn't seem to work well for me.
I've been using the app SizeUp for a long while, and SplitSreen just seems to do the same thing. resize apps to a certain size.

What I was hoping to do was using the "full screen" version of apps/browser/etc and being able to display 2 of them side by side on the monitor.
Anyone can relate?

Anyone have ideas if there are other software out there that would help with that?

I'm interested in this as well. Coincidentally, I was hunting for a new monitor yesterday and this was the model that intrigued me most of all for professional work. I'm in pro apps 10 hours a day and loved the idea of upgrading my dual monitors (ACD 20 and 30) by replacing them with one seamless monitor with split screens.

The ultrawide split-screen is what I decided on, but if the split-screen functionality isn't app-friendly and it merely resizes windows, I might need to look elsewhere.

Please keep me posted, Cariacou. I'd like to know your impressions.

Hi from Portugal.

I have a Macbook Pro 15 mid 2014 and i want to know if i connect my Mac to this LG 34UM95 will i have that "retina look" with that sharp text like i have on my Macbook 15 display?

I have the LG 29 UltraWide, the image is nice, but it does not have that "retina look", the text is blurry.

Hope you can help me.

tks
Rui

I just got an LG 29um55 21:9 display this week. I have it connected to my Mid-2012 MBP via a mini-display port to display port cable. With an HDMI cable, the max resolution is 1920x1080, so the the desktop is stretched. This version of the LG 21:9 monitor only has display port and HDMI connection options. The screen is sharp, but it is not even close to retina level resolution. I don't have any plans to use to split screen mode.

quick update: just updated to El Capitain.
Now Apple offers its own split-view solution and it's amazing!
exactly what I was dreaming for:
- no CPU overloading (the LG split view was consuming literally 90% of CPU after 30minutes or so.. something is wrong with their app..)
- easiness of use. I didn't find it myself, but once seen, it's dead easy to remember. http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-use-split-view-in-os-x-el-capitan/
- great integration. can switch to full screen, split screen, windows quickly, and without any glitches (unlike LG...)
