Is it just me that is getting an error when opening watched threads?

Normally when you click on a watched thread it takes you to the unread post.
On old watched threads it takes you to the first post (which it always has).

As I navigate MR by watched threads quite a bit it's a bit annoying.
I'm seeing this on Safari on my iMac and iPhone 7+

Is this the dreaded (and frequent) 503 error?

What Safari version are you using?

You're not alone. I just got back to my regular computer after a couple weeks away, and it's not working the way it used to. As you said, it would take you to the first unread post. Now it just takes me to the top of the page that the first unread post is on. I have to click the "Go to First Unread" button to get to the unread post. The button works, but it didn't need to be used before.

Oddly, the Firefox I have on the same computer doesn't have this problem. It goes to the first unread post like it did before.

EDIT: EXAMPLE

I read this thread, which I've been reading since it started:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/what-is-was-for-dinner.2133151/

I clicked the thread item in the forum listing, and it ended up at this URL:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/what-is-was-for-dinner.2133151/page-2

However, it briefly showed this URL in Safari's address bar while the page was loading, and before the unadorned "page-2" URL appeared:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/what-is-was-for-dinner.2133151/page-2#post-26405183

Safari displayed the top of page-2, with the "Go to First Unread" button available. I clicked it, and it then went to:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/what-is-was-for-dinner.2133151/page-2#post-26405183

So it looks like something is going awry when the page is loading, because it shouldn't be losing the "#post-26405183" fragment, only to have it put back on with the "Go to First Unread" button.

And now after adding the EXAMPLE, I tested each of the links by clicking on them, and none of the ones with the "#post-26405183" fragment work in Safari. They only go to "page-2", not to the post on the page.

I'm seeing the same thing. Not a fix, but I noticed if I close the tab and click command key click the thread again, that second time it seems to work as it should.

I'll alert the admins something is broken.

Thanks. Any work around for iOS?

No. Just not taking you to the first unread post in a watched thread. Takes you to the first thread on the last page.

What I've noticed since yesterday is with Firefox on iOS (iPhone & iPad) where tapping on the thread title with unread messages, either takes me to the first post of the thread, or just the top of the page which has the latest post, but not to the unread post itself.

Same thing here. Tested on Chrome and Safari and the same issue. I will say though, Safari at least would take me to the post sometimes. It was not consistent though.

Well, it could be just you, and we're gaslighting you.

Although you're not scheduled for that prank until October 12th. We do it for all the Top 50 Posters. Well, the cat's out of the bag now.
October 12th?

I've been seeing the same thing since yesterday. Goes to the top of the page containing the last unread post.

Chrome on Win10.

Well at least it isn't just me then!

It's good to know that we're both not crazy. :D

That's exactly the Windows version and browser I'm having trouble with. Everything's good with Chrome on my Mac and Safari on iOS.

I noticed this yesterday on my iPhone & iPad both using safari and latest iOS updates.

When clicking on a notification (for somebody replying to a thread, quoting your post, or liking your post) it used to send you to the post it refers to, now it just send you to the top of the thread the post is contained in

Seems fine on my iMac though

(iPhone 6s plus & iPad mini 4 all latest iOS and no chrome/Firefox only safari)

iOS now works for me but windows still just takes me the last page not the first new post
