Tonight, I noticed some webpage that was "burned in" to my brand new cinema HD display. It shows up prominently in gray or black backgrounds. Has anyone encountered this problem. You can be sure I will be returning this tomorrow.

I've never seen nor heard of LCD burn-in on ACDs or any other such display. I can't help with why it happened, but please post back with any reply they give you when you return it. I've (unintentionally) left things up for days with no burn-in.
No, I was probably on the webpage for about 20 minutes while cooking dinner. It's off now for the night and hopefully I won't have to go through returning it tomorrow.

Well it might not be "burn-in" in the plasma sorta way, but it's "image persistance" nonetheless and it's possible on lcds.

I left it off all evening and the website "image persistance" is no longer there.
After spending lots of moolah on the display, I was just concerned.
I know I am very late, but I have burn in issues with my 30, I do have apple care, I'll be calling them today. The issues are after say 2 years though.
