Tonight, I noticed some webpage that was "burned in" to my brand new cinema HD display. It shows up prominently in gray or black backgrounds. Has anyone encountered this problem. You can be sure I will be returning this tomorrow.

I've never seen anything of the sort with an LCD. Odd... sure it's not dust?
No I am not smoking any drugs.

Clear burn in of a news webpage on the left side.

Any intelligent answers, please post. Thank you.

I've never seen nor heard of LCD burn-in on ACDs or any other such display. I can't help with why it happened, but please post back with any reply they give you when you return it. I've (unintentionally) left things up for days with no burn-in.

Great way to make friends around here.

Anyways, have you left a web page up for a long time or changed settings for putting the display to sleep?

EDIT: And yeah, I'd like to know what they tell you also.

No, I was probably on the webpage for about 20 minutes while cooking dinner. It's off now for the night and hopefully I won't have to go through returning it tomorrow.

Please post a picture. There is no way. First LCD dont burn in only Plasma. Second if will take days to burn in a screen not 20 mintues. Probably an Error with the software and its not the screen. Just need to restart.

I believe that would be a sure sign that you are spending too much time on macrumors . . . ;)

Well it might not be "burn-in" in the plasma sorta way, but it's "image persistance" nonetheless and it's possible on lcds.

These two articles from Apple should help you out.

Guys, thanks for your feedback. I appreciate all the help.
I left it off all evening and the website "image persistance" is no longer there.
After spending lots of moolah on the display, I was just concerned.

Good to hear. Let us know if it returns. I'm about to buy a 23 incher and I would hate to have those issues.
