Hi all,

Here is my scenario and I hope I can get some advice.

My main phone number is on Vodafone and I recently took out an EE contract to pair with my Apple Watch S3. What I have done is put that Sim in my iPhone 8+ and the vodafone one in a spare iPhone 5s on divert to my EE number so I can receive all calls. I thought that text messages (non iMessage) would be an issue as you can't forward those, but what I have noticed is that if the 5s is on then any text message comes into my messages app on the 8+ as they are in the same iCloud account.

What I was wondering is it safe to leave the phone on charge constantly to enable this as I am going away for 2 weeks and won't be able to unplug and replug it in like I have been doing? Or should I just turn it off and hope that I get no text messages? The ones I probably need are those ones that are texted for authentication to things - I have changed my bank and a few others, but I am sure I have forgotten something.

Thanks!

🙂

I've had a 5 plugged into power in Australia on the WiFi at my Mums house, forwarding SMS's to my iPad via iCloud for two years now.

No issues.
