I am thinking about getting a nice large external LCD for my laptop, which would be mostly used for photo editing in Photoshop, web browsing and development, 720p HD video watching, and all the other small tasks that I use my computer for. (a.k.a. typing school documents, researching topics, IM, iTunes, etc.

Would the 15" Powerbook in my sig with the stock 64Mb Radeon 9600 GPU be good enough to power a 24" LCD at 1920x1200, without any lag?

Specifically, I was thinking of this LCD...

Is it a good one? I'm not sure if I want the ACD, because of lack of other inputs. and color correction built-in.

    Thank you Jah...I'm so Blessed
Seems like a good buy to me. I would buy it if I was looking for another monitor.

Does anyone know how this monitor compares to the dell?

Actually, yes. Compared to the Samsung, the Dell has much worse QC, from what I've heard, and the new Dell 24" has some problems. The actual LCD panel, I think, is also slightly better then the one in the Dell. Plus, the bezel on the Samsung looks much nicer, at least to me!

Thanks for the opinions guys! :) But the main thing that I want to know is can my laptop handle the resolution of the 24" running multiple apps at the same time? Like 5-10 apps?

I would say no problem if you run it in clamshell mode. The 720p HD may be an issue, not sure.

I use a 20" 1680x1050 external with my powerbook that has 16MB card, only real issue is with DVD playback, but once you start a movie it plays fine. It will stutter when calling up the remote.
