Hi guys! I wanted to get some suggestions on what I should do in this situation... I bought this iMac a few days after the metal ones came out.. Ive been happy with it for a while no real issues except I had to take it in because bootcamp screwed up my HDD.

Anyway I started noticing very light spots towards the top of the LCD kinda like water drops.. I usually just keep my Mac running 24/7 but have a 10minute limit on the screen so it turns off and doesnt waste the LCD panel. Ive noticed that when the screen is off there is what I describe as "tiger stripes" on the top left of the LCD. Its very obvious its a defect in the LCD.

I have searched the forums and from what ive read it seems like it was caused by Heat. When i feel the top left vs the top right sides the left is hotter.. Ive started running smc fan control to stop the defect from getting worse.. I live in Oregon and its not that hot here so Im not sure why this happened Im in a regular sized room and I dont do alot of intensive stuff Photoshop once in a while...

Anyway the damage seems to be already done..

I ran my SN through the apple SN check online and it says its out of warranty..

Any suggestions on what I should do? How much will they charge to fix this issue? It wasnt really my fault i never did anything to it for all i know it was one of the techs that might have screwed something up when they opened it to fix the HDD..

Im thinking of selling this Mac and buying a MacBook Pro this is why its very important to me to try and find a solution to this problem.. Ive worked with Macs at my Job for 2 years and never had an issue and ive had this one for a while now and Ive always been happy with Apple but this is really crappy that I might have this Mac for a long time with this defect..

Thanks for reading I welcome any suggestions..

    PS sorry no pics :((

If you cant live with it, I would just sell the thing. The great things about Macs is even defective ones fetch a nice resale $$ and makes the pain of buying a new one much easier. replacing the screen is just too expensive to the point that you might as well buy something new..and ALWAYS buy the extended warranty.

Id rather keep it I <3 IT.. Ive done testing and i seems like it might be something on the inside of the screen.

Although my iMac is relatively knew, I'm really pleased I chose to get AppleCare. The advice here is excellent, just sell it, buy another. But you might want to wait until new models!
