Finally ready to upgrade from my Series 3 Cellular- I imagine the performance will be a huge jump?

The only thing I am debating is just going with GPS to save $70 and also $10/month. I don't go running and I can't remember the last time I went somewhere with just my watch. I guess for the once a lifetime situation where my phone is dead and I need my watch, but is that worth it? Has anyone gone back from cellular to GPS and had regrets?
I also debated adding cellular for exactly the same reasons. I ended up getting a series 2 Ultra and I know and myself leaving my phone on my desk more and more. When I walk the dog, when I mow the lawn, when I shoot to the store etc. The watch is eating away at certain things I HAD to have my watch it is awesome.

In WatchOS 9 there was the ability to add “Favourites” in the Timers app, I used it a lot. They took that way in WOS10, now we can “Pin” our favourites. In wish Apple would try to be a little consistent…

I really hate that Redesigned Now Playing View.
It used to go full screen and that IMO was the best approach, now it is an extra tap without any good reason for it.
I wish they would give us an option to change it back.

In the Watch App, if you go to Smart Stack, then Media Apps you can change the auto launch settings if that’s what you want.

I was very disappointed when updating to the latest software version to see my preferred watch face 'Chronograph' deleted. From looking at various forums, I am not the only one who is disappointed at this deletion. Despite there being others to choose from, there isn't one that looked as clean and sharp as this one. Is there a reason Apple can't add new watch faces without deleting one's people are already using? Hopefully Apple has taken note of the various forums, and reinstates the deleted watch faces on the next update.

Nice writeup overall. Would be nice if they included how to get double tap to display notifications, instead of the default where it just shows the smart stack.

I've never understood the lack of playing audio e.g. podcasts out of the watch - when you answer the phone on the watch it has audio, so it CAN use a speaker (Ultra 1 here), just not OTHER audio?

The biggest thing I'm hoping is fixed on watchOS is the bugs with the Podcast app - currently it often doesn't show the latest episode available even though it will begin to play the latest episode if you go to the end of the previous episode and let it continue.. it knows it's there but the UI doesn't show it.

Also with the podcast app, it's terrible at 'crossing connection types' - If I start a podcast at home in wifi, then walk out of my house to run.. eventually it will stop playing and any time I try to play a podcast after that, it just stops immediately. I have to reboot the watch to fix it.

My method is disabling wifi on the watch, walking out of my house until it is also no longer paired with the phone and the cellular connection shows up, then start the podcast. Annoying as all hell I can't even tell you.

Since upgrading to Watch OS 11 I no longer have the Explorer watch face. This was nice because it displayed the cellular strength right on the screen. Has anyone else had this issue? I don’t even see it listed in the OS11 users guide but it is listed for Watch OS 10.
Me too! What I really miss about this face is the ability to change the color of the hands. I loved having neon green hands against the black background and white numerals. It was highly visible.

I don't see any faces in OS11 that allow the hands to change color, only the background with lowers visibility IMO.

Is there a way to add deleted faces?

Nice article. Good to know about these features. Using the digital crown for notifications is good.

Thanks for the tip about being able to turn the Digital Crown downwards to reveal the notifications.
This will be handy for me during the winter when I wear gloves, as I can turn the Digital Crown when wearing gloves, as usually I need to take my gloves off to swipe down to reveal them :)

RIDICULOUS that you can’t play audio through the speaker on the Ultra 1. This is so petty of Apple, I will not buy a new watch just for this, absolutely bonkers.View attachment 2427872
I was about to comment on this. They are kinda pushing U1 away like if it's a really dated watch when in fact is just as much as the U2 and both are top tier watches. The speaker on the ultras also is louder than on non ultras, so I assume that it would even make more sense to have this on U1 than in series 10 lol.

Battery. It was to conserve battery.
I don’t buy that, the Ultra 1 has really great battery life, pretty much identical to the 2nd but still no audio playback. Audio playback takes extremely little power so it’s no excuse. Plus listening to audio on the watch where it requires streaming over Bluetooth headphones would need even more power usage than just piping through the speaker.

It’s blocked as Apple just want to upsell you a new device.

Hasn’t affected my watch ultra 2 battery life still get over 3 days of use out of it :)
I wish that was the case for me. I wish the Watch had a Battery section so you could see what app was burning your battery. It's something in the daytime that seems to do it. I also sleep with it on as well.

This feature would be great, no idea why they haven’t added the ability to see what’s draining the watch battery even if it has to be viewed via the iPhone. The iPhone app used to have a battery section but they removed that a while ago. All they had to do was add the ability to see app usage.

Yeah, having the battery info available via the phone's Watch app makes total sense. Weirdly, I see that my UW2 from April has 98% battery health, which is pretty surprising to me.

Does anyone know if you can set a rest day on the schedule? I dont want to remember every Sunday to pause my rings...I want it to just do it on a schedule. Everything else can be scheduled (and thats great!).

Also so far the WatchOS11 still has the worst features apple implemented a few OSes ago....the watch really really wants to control my phone on podcasts and music. I ran 3 miles away from my house and the watch is showing me music on my iPhone and trying to play it instead of ONLY showing the music I specifically downloaded for my workouts. I honestly wonder if anyone on the watch team runs without a data connection and without their phone. Because right now it's total garbage and it used to work just as you would expect.

Also would like if I could choose to only charge to 80% not have it guess when it wants to charge to 80%. Just make it like the phone and let me choose.

It wold be cool if the Apple Watch has a expiration calculation date on you. As we get older if you can see your expiration date you can get all the paperwork done on time. It's terrible if you forgot all that stuff and the kids has to deal with it. OK I'm jk!:p

For the love of God can we stop calling them hidden, secret, and other provocative descriptions to bait clicks? At best they are "lesser known". Rank this right up with the "you won't believe what happened next" and "...will shock you" BS headlines. Be better.
