2560x1440 resolution via hdmi

Can I get the full resolution of my 2560x1440 monitor from the USB-C to HDMI dongle? I believe when I had a 2014 mac mini, the only way to get full resolution was through a displayport connection, not hdmi.

I have driven a full 4k monitor over the HDMI connection so it should work fine.

But not with a Dell U2713H. It drives me crazy. Sometimes I got a picture after minutes(!!) connected, sometimes I got no picture. It's awful.

I really like it when I use it without an external display, but it behaves really really bad with my Dell connected 🙁

I wrote over 5 bug reports, send them many sysdiagnose, my ticket was closed because of another same bug report and after montsh I feel Apple developers don't want or can't fix it. Maybe with a new MacBook release.
