Several people appear to have received their 27" ACDs, but there have been no tinge-tests as far as I know. There are many here curious to know if the latest ACDs are free from the iMac uniformity issues (myself included - will be buying one next month).

If you spot this thread and happen to have a 27" ACD, please do contribute by opening the following link full-screen and posting a well-exposed/white-balanced photograph (not a screenshot) of it.

Really keen to see people's feedback about the latest 27 inch.

Is there any yellow tint issue with 24 inch?

There have been quite a few reports, but they do not suffer from the defect to anywhere near the extremity of the 27" iMacs.

Here is mine. Monitor is just out of box.. No calibration, etc.

No real yellow tinge that I can see here, aside from a barely noticeable little orangish shadow on the right edge. There does appear to be a dark bar at the bottom of the screen. Are either of these things visible in reality?

Just got mine. There is no yellow tinge issues or backlight issues or any dead pixels or anything. I do notice the *extremely* faint dark bar at the bottom of the screen when viewed with certain colors. I think it actually got better after calibration, but it's still new so I will have to keep testing. Absolutely satisfied here, Apple did a good job.

Love this display!

Some pictures maybe? ^^

O.E.J's monitor is infinitely better than any of the 27" iMacs I spent 6 months exchanging, lol.

Sure thing!

Note that I took it maybe a little too close, so the camera started to have a tiny bit of vignetting effect on the brightness of the display. It should still be sufficient to see that there is no yellow tinge, just ignore the fact that the brightness looks concentrated on the center of the display (to my eyes in real life it does not look this way).

That is absolutely spectacular, ovrlrd! Not a hint of yellow, and an incredibly even backlight. :D

How's the backlight bleed (if any), compared to this iMacs?

No backlight "spotlighting" at all, it's completely even throughout the screen. The backlight is better than most IPS panels actually, I am pretty impressed. The black level is not quite as good as a PVA panel (seen in top of the line Samsung HDTVs) but is still pretty impressive. The viewing angle is really great and the colors are better than any PVA that I have seen.

Overall I would give this display very high marks in terms of consumer LCDs. If the glossy doesn't bother you, then you will have a hard time finding any flaws with it. It's not going to beat out high end professional displays, or win in a color gamut contest between it and the Dell 27 inch. Personally the color gamut is better than the majority of displays I have worked with, and everything else about it (brightness, contrast ratio, black levels) exceeded my expectations, so that more than makes up for it.

Excellent. How does it compare to the likes of a Dell U2711 in terms of LCD brightness and contrast (as they use the same panel)?

I have some pics of my screen but since the walls in my office are a shade of yellow/gold. You will see that reflected in the screen. If you want them I'll post them.

But if you look threw the original front page article you'll see several pics of my screen before calibration.

I found the LED to be a bit more of a pain to calibrate, but once calibrated it is a good display.

Yes, please do post them. The yellow background shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I think it is safe to say that the 27" ACDs do not suffer from the yellow tinge issue. Free 27" ACDs all around!

Too late. :p

24" Cinema Display w/ Yellow Corner

I just unpacked a refurbished 24" cinema display (picked one up on the refurb store now that they're discontinued). The bottom half of the screen is noticeably more yellow than the top half.

I just took this picture with a solid black background in a dark room. Notice the three white corners and the clearly yellow bottom right corner. I'll head over to the Apple store tomorrow to ask what my options are. Refurbished still have a 1 year warranty - but now that the 24" are discontinued I'm afraid I'm out of luck.

Bump.

We've got one report of a yellow 27" thus far. If you're received yours, please post photographs of the test pattern linked in the first post. Hopefully this was just a case of bad luck.

I don't seem to see any yellow in my 27"

Indeed, this one is clean. No dark bar at the bottom either. Thanks for your contribution. :)
