I'm curious what the current opinion is for using a 27" Thunderbolt Display with a new MBP using a TB3 -> TB2 adapter. For some reason I'm suddenly seeing used ones for ~$250-$300. A lot seem to have issues with cables fraying.

It is it worth it or should I just get a new monitor from LG/Dell/? that uses HDMI. I already bought the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter to use with a different monitor that I need to replace. If I buy a Thunderbolt display, I'll have to buy the TB3->TB2 adapter and then I'm also limited on where that monitor can be used in the future.

You better buy a 4k LG ips lcd for about $260. It makes your eyes happy.
