I know exactly what you mean. I'm 18-20 months off from my usual replacement cycle myself. Still, this looks to be a fantastic computer and well worth the wait, when it arrives.

It depends. I believe overnights are shipped FedEx, I'm not sure about standard or 2-3 day. I know there's been orders for both.

Also, Dec 6th order - NY, US - Preparing for Shipment as of this morning! Fingers crossed to get it by New Year's... today is my birthday, and this is my present :)

I also ordered on the 6th, changed to Preparing today, hoping it'll ship tomorrow :D

On the UPS tracking information it says,

Last Location:
Departed - Shanghai, China, Friday, 12/28/2012

but on the email notification from Apple it says
Delivers
Jan 03, 2013

One month wait from announcement to order,
Another month wait from ordering to ship,
First time I had to wait this long for a computer,

Question: when you switched from "Preparing for Shipment" to "Shipped," did you receive an email instantly, or did you see it yourself through Apple first?

Mine shipped as well. Ordered Dec 6, processing Dec 27, shipped Dec 28. Thanks to the new years holiday, won't get it until 1/3.

I'm positive it will be! I'm coming off of a 2007 MacBook that's still running 10.5. Was going to upgrade to the rumored new iMac in April but held off until WWDC and we all know how that turned out.

Eight months later, I swear my coworkers hear me mutter everyday, "Less than two weeks left... Less than two weeks left..."

I got them to change it to overnight, but it really doesn't matter. I called up FedEx already, and they travel in bulk. So, as an Apple rep also told me, they'll get there when they get there - and they'll be traveling together for a bit first.
 
Stuck in Kentucky.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Looks like every plane my iMac was on had mechanical issues! Anyone know how long shipping took from Kentucky to Washington (Seattle)?

I placed my order the first day through Apple Business team. The order finally processed on Dec 1st.

For a split second it said it would be delivered today. However, that was replaced with no target delivery date. :(

Ordered my 27" BTO (i7/2GB 680MX) on 11/30 and was given 12/24-12/31 as delivery date.

It shipped from China on 12/14. I received it on 12/18.

Has anyone who has received their orders gotten any dead pixels on the screen. I've ordered from Apple previously and am scared that I will wait a month for the IMac and then have to return because of many dead pixels. Thanks.
