Hey guys lately I have been reading of users upgrading their iMac GPU. Since when is this true? If so, what can I put in my iMac? How difficult is the process? Is it worth it with these mobile cards?

I've only seen it done within the same model series. For example the nvidia 8800GS failed all the time but the same model also came with the ATI 2600 so people found and installed 2600s for their out of warranty iMacs. They have been ATI4850s on ebay used to upgrade the std nvidia 120/130 from that era. It's possible but not easy.

Cheers,

I read that the CPU was soldered in?

Nope, people have changed the CPU on iMacs. Old C2D pulls from iMacs are sold as laptop CPU upgrades all the time even though they have a much higher temp and are not designed for laptops.
