Everything seemed slow? That's odd. Where is your scratch disk and the files you are working with? I would expect the processor and SSD to be able to handle most of what you throw at it with ease. Where do you see the biggest lags?

my files are on an nas. maybe its laggy for me because i worked before with an pc with an i7 6700k 16gb ram and and gtx 1070 with 8gb.

i just tried editing files from the ssd drive from the mac, now its faster.... but with my windows pc i had no problems working from my nas

i am using an synology ds216+ i noticed when connecting to the nas (entering username and password) it takes about 25 sec, and when its connected and i click through the folders it doesnt feel smooth

Maybe this will be useful. I've never used a Synology NAS, but i have had loads of issues getting different file shares to works successfully on a Mac.

I work from a Synology for a lot of my files, and they are faster than any other external I have ever used, and my iMac is from 2012.

can you show me how you connect the nas with the mac?
[doublepost=1499710717][/doublepost]i go to connect with server and then i type: smb://10.0.0.99

In Finder it typically remembers me, but if not, I put in the username for my NAS and then the password. So, if our server name was XYZServer, Finder would show XYXServer in the sidebar, and then I connect as molly and my password.

I only use the http numbers if I have to connect through the internet, which happens rarely after a disconnect. It's faster to access the files through finder and my ethernet cable than to connect via the web.
