Hi there, just a quick noob question.
I've got a 27" imac i5, with 4 RAM slots. I do actually have 2x2Gb installed, but that's not enough to run windows 7 smoothly with Parallels.
I would like to upgrade the RAM. Can I buy 1x4Gb now, and add another 1x4Gb later? (short on money at the moment...)

    So, I would have
installed (for a temporary total of 8Gb).

The two original modules are installed in BANK 0/DIMM0 and BANK 1/DIMM0. Should I install the new module in any free slot available?

Another question: is this memory fine?
    PATRIOT SODIMM DDR3 4GB(1X4GB)1333Mhz MacCompliant

I read some topics about ram upgrade, but it's not clear wether you can add one single module...
thank you very much guys, appreciate your help!

You can add one single module of PC3-10600 DDR3 1333MHz SO-DIMM 204 Pin Memory, if you want to and use any of the free slots. You then can add more RAM later in the other free slot.

Hi interested in this post as have the same question

Am I right to assume therfor that an addittional/single 4gb stick can live quite happily with 2x2gb sticks already installed (ie they dont all have to match in gb size)

Secondly can the 4GB go in any of the spare slots or is there a specific place for it ??
