I have a current gen 27 inch imac with a 2tb HD. Now I have read various posts that the imac should be loud but I want to ask this user community for some facts/advice. This computer is constantly making noises, and sounds like computers 10 years used to sound. It isnt loud but it sounds like a constant processing noise. I have turned time machine off. Also when I am on safari, i will get random pinwheels and all of a sudden my externals and internal hard drive will speed up for a few seconds. I dont know if this is an issue with safari or other browsers in general. The quirks are more annoying than anything. The fact is i spent almost 3k on a computer and expected it to be a super machine. It is an I7 model with 8GB of ram. I plan to try to do a complete OS restore, i have repaired permissions and tried other things to no avail. If i would have known this would happen I would have opted for the 500gb SSD, I am debating whether to call apple or not but i really do not feel like dealing with repairs and having some tech open my machine whether it be in the store or at my home( as i have applecare) Look forward to hearing some responses.
